PGT: Mavs trounce the lowly Knicks
Carmelo Anthony is overrated trash.

This team was his choice... He could've taken less money to play elsewhere, but he didn't.
Carmelo made his sh!t-smeared bed, now he has to sleep in it.

Really? You feel sorry for carmelo? He is playing just where he wants to be. His teams crappiness are because of his own selfishness as a basketball player.
He made his choice.

I kind of wished he had gone to Houston. It would be so awesome to watch both him and Harden try to coexist with only one ball. Carmelo is shit. His game is overrated. The Mavs don't exactly play defense, yet Parsons was all over him tonight. He kept tossing up bricks. His baseline jumper was a joke.

I don't feel sorry for Carmelo, but I do think level of vitriol people direct at him is pretty ridiculous.

Couldn't agree more. Not saying he's complete crap, because he isn't, but he's still an overrated chucker. Couldn't do anything with Denver (if that foul in game 3 in 2009 had been called, I think that series would have turned around as Dirk went god mode), can't do anything with New York. Poor man's Kobe Bryant. Chucking galore without the titles.

Mavs had 13 players get some minutes.
Dirk only played 23 min. our bench looked great.
Both teams combined for total of 18 Free throw attempts
And we shot 100% on our 8FTA's

The game has passed Carmello by. There was a time in the NBA where teams just passed the ball to their star and ran an isolation play. It made Barkley and Iverson very rich men, though neither won a ring. Today, teams win by passing until someone gets wide open...hard to do if Carmello won't pass.
Compare that to Harden, who I also hate. But when it became clear that his matador defense was crippling his team, he changed his game. Dirk has changed his game multiple times, from 3 points only to learning how to play in the post, and now to 2nd fiddle. Same with Duncan. But Melo won't change, and until he does, his teams will lose.

It's just sad that the new era of team basketball wasn't here in 2005. Wade's ridiculous preferential treatment may have been the last gasp of the superstar era, but it was also a kidney punch to the Mavs that would take 6 years to get over.

Oh and for those who said Harris can't shoot threes...he's now above 40% for the season.

Lets just say he has never been able to before, ( true statement). It is great to see him hitting them. All hail holger, and devins hard work.

I was listening to walt frasier ( arg he's bad ). But he said that parsons takes the most threes on the team. I was surprised by that but then checked it.
6! 3pt attempts/game? All I know is if he is going to shoot that many, he had better be in the gym shooting as much as dirk/devin are.
6! That seems ridiculous.

Shooting just takes time and work and it sounds like Harris has done just that-- worked on his shot over the last summer and over his career. I just hope that it continues.
R-Jeff came into the league shooting in the 20s. Now he's consistently shooting 36-42%. Things change. I used to think Harris as a liability, but so far he's not only been decent, he's actually been pretty good.

great points.
1) Iso ball is dead - and the game is better for it.
2) Love how Dirk adapts - but not happy how he is tinkering with his shot presently (with the quicker relase) but it may pay off later in the season.

Yea tinkering with perfection seems pretty dangerous. He was fantasitic early but he's definitely looking like he is just chucking it up there. You do have to give it time. But if youve ever tried to change your golf swing, it takes a lot of work and time to make it second nature.
It would be a shame for the dirkster to sort of waste this year with a shot tweak. But maybe it keeps him on the court longer.

Odd numbers from the box score. Talk about balance. Dirk led scoring with only 16. Four others were in double figures, followed by one player with 9 points, the two centers with 8 each and one player with 7. We had Parsons and Ellis with 6 dimes each, Dirk and JJB had 5 assists a piece. At point guard, Harris had 2 assists and Nelson 3. Ellis took 14 shots, Parsons 12 and Dirk 11. Carmello took 23.

Make him commit to how much. Plenty of room for the percentage to drop (which it's likely to do even if he has systematically improved, IMO) and still be well above Devin's career average.

Harris is certainly good enough to not miss Calderon's three point shooting. Man he sucks for them. Did you see that dribble he just blatantly lost while doing a spin move?
