ESPN Hires Avery Johnson As Analyst
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3648496 Oct 17, 2008 4:45 PM EST ESPN has hired former Mavericks' coach Avery Johnson as a full-time studio analyst, and plans to team him with fellow analyst Bill Walton and host Stuart Scott on the network's NBA Shootaround pregame show. "ESPN and ABC has an abundance of terrific talent and I'm glad to launch my career in broadcasting with the premiere sports network," Johnson said in a statement. He worked with the network during the playoffs last spring after being fired by Dallas in May. "Avery has excelled in every professional endeavor and we know his success will carry over to his on-air role," said Norby Williamson, ESPN executive vice president, production. The real story is he's replacing Screamin' A. on a lot of their basketball coverage. So that's an improvement, imo.
