Greenday was legitimate punk. So was Social Distortion. The brief popularity of Greenday was a logical outgrowth of the early success of grunge, before it turned to crap.
I know punk. I saw Punk. Social D was punk. I saw them at the old Sportatorium in Dallas. Scariest concert I ever went to. The Screaming Trees opened-they sucked. BTW, in about an 2 hours, the new Dixie Chicks will be spinning in my CD player.
