COVID-19 aka Coronavirus
Seems this is going to affect the NBA sooner or later. Rumors of playing games without fans and even at alternative or neutral sites.
Dallas County just sent the CDC their first two presumptive positive tests. I was thinking of going to the game Saturday afternoon, but I'm honestly not sure they will let fans in, even that soon...
Thought a thread will be necessary to track how the league reacts and the teams themselves.

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/...ue-coronavirus
"NBA is discussing scenarios that include moving some games to cities that have yet to suffer outbreaks --- including opponent arenas or neutral sites."
"NBA’s discussing a number of possibilities -- including eliminating fans from games or, more drastically, suspending game operations for a period of time. Decisions on those options remain complicated by fact there’s been such a limited amount of public testing for coronavirus."

Maybe this is a good year to be a low seed the playoff games might all be empty arena and playing on the road won't matter.

Utah OKC canceled over Gobert being sick. I wonder if the season is in danger of being postponed or canceled?

@JHuflerOKC: BREAKING: #Jazz C Rudy Gobert and PG Emmanuel Mudiay are being taken to Mercy Medical Center in downtown OKC to be tested for the coronavirus. This should provide reasoning as to why the #Jazz vs #Thunder game was cancelled. #COVID19 #CoronaVirusUpdat

I would say any type of gathering of thousands of people is in danger right now yes.
At best empty arena games will happen.

To me unless this whole thing is over in a month (which is a LONG shot) the season is over. Unless they do empty arena and decide to risk it. Maybe the playoffs will start right away.

And the players had contact with other player the next game etc. You can connect the entire NBA back to Gobert within a week

Earlier in the week Gobert thought he was being funny and went around and touched all the microphones and even some reporters. Might have infected some of them.

Wow. Didn't see this one coming. I really, really hope they settle on something other than cancelling the season altogether. Going straight to playoffs with empty arenas or something. This has been one of the most interesting seasons in NBA history because so many teams have/had a legit chance to win the title. It would be a horrible shame if nobody won it at all. I don't want to live the rest of my life not knowing who would win a seven game series between the Lakers and Clippers.

New York stated banned events of people larger than 500 people for 2 months. I'm pretty sure this season is probably over unless they fix all this by early May and are willing to play playoffs into August.
All college basketball is cancelled.

My sister works with someone who took their kids to the Pistons/Jazz game last Saturday. They had court side seats, met the players, and ate with the teams etc. The kids now have the virus.

This forum has quickly become a ghost town, so I'm not sure if there's a point to posting anything else like this but
CDC recommends that gatherings of 50 people or more in U.S. be canceled or postponed in next 8 weeks because of coronavirus.

KD 1 of 4 Nets that tested positive for COVID19. He wasn't even playing games I guess just from being around the team.

Nice to know the "higher ups" can get the tests while us normals still can't. The current lack of testing will go down in history as a huge, huge dark spot in American history.

Yeah I went to the doctor yesterday because of coughing and aches, no test. I don't think I have it but never know.

We wish them a speedy recovery. But, with all due respect, an entire NBA team should NOT get tested for COVID-19 while there are critically ill patients waiting to be tested.
Tests should not be for the wealthy, but for the sick. https://twitter.com/cbsnews/status/1240010307323547649 …

He's the same dumb ass that went to the gym during a viral pandemic trying to grandstand. The Nets went with private testing so didn't affect any testing abilities of the public. If anything, blame the manufacturer for choosing profit over public health, or not. But I can't stand the hypocrisy of public officials who would just as quickly get tested privately and keep their interests above the public if they thought they had the virus....
