The Miles is on a distinguished road
Default 4 Way: Mavs | Knicks | Sixers | Lakers

Dallas Mavericks trade:

Michael Finley ($15,937,500)
Total: $15,837,500

Dallas Mavericks receive:

Jamal Mashburn ($10,075,000)
Vlade Divac ($5,393,300)
Total: $15.468,300

New York Knicks trade:

Maurice Taylor ($9,100,000)
Jamal Crawford ($6,525,000)
Total: $15,625,000

New York Knicks receive:

Michael Finley ($15,937,500)
Future Lakers 1st Rd Pick
Total: $15,937,500

Philadelphia 76ers trade:

Jamal Mashburn ($10,075,000)
Total: $10,075,000

Philadelphia 76ers receive:

Maurice Taylor ($9,100,000)
Total: $9,100,000

Los Angeles Lakers trade:

Vlade Divac ($5,393,300)
Future Lakers 1st Rd Pick
Total: $5,393,3000 (can take back $6,841,625)

Los Angeles Lakers receive:

Jamal Crawford ($6,525,000)
Total: $6,525,000

Why the heck do they do it?

Dallas
-Obviously, to save money. LT included, Mash/Divac would cost the Mavericks $30,936,600 whereas Finley costs $100,000,000+. Team saves $70,000,000+ and Finley goes East instead of cutting him, saving only $51,000,000, and watching him sign with the Nuggets, Spurs, Rockets, or Suns. Pure talent dump for Dallas, Mashburn's contract will expire I think in March (I can get the info if needed, it is medical) and Divac is done too.

New York
-I just can't see Jamal Crawford being a Larry Brown type of player. Mo Taylor is basically useless on the end of the bench behind Sweetney, Rose, Jerome Williams, etc....Jamal/Mo combine for $68,875,000 owed so the Knicks save money taking on Finley. And Finley just seems more of a Brown type, Marbury, Finley, and Q Rich are their starting PG, SG, and SF.

Philadelphia
-Quick, who is Philadelphia's backup PF? Quick, when is the last time Chris Webber played 82 games? Mashburn is completely useless to them, this allows the team to add a backup PF who is only one year longer in contract. Mo isn't the best, but he put up 7 ppg, 4 rpg, and shot 46% in 65 games last year. Sixers add a rotation player to the NBA's 3rd highest payroll for a retiring Mashburn.

Los Angeles Lakers
-You hear from Lakers fans that the organization has an interest in Jamal Crawford, that Phil could use him as the PG in the triangle. The Lakers add salary here, sure, but it is mid level salary for a 25 year old combo guard that put up 18 ppg, 4 apg, 3 rpg, and 1.3 spg last year. He has talent and would give them the big PG that Phil likes.

This isn't bad, but I don't know that Philly would take on more salary for Mo Taylor--I think the other three teams would do this deal.

Excellent work, Miles. I like it for all teams involved. Obviously, we'd like to get expiring contracts that could contribute this year. But this is much better than just waiving Fin and seeing him land with a WC rival.
