Successful Scenario
Due to Dallas, Denver, and Golden State being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Dallas, Denver, and Golden State had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just something I was looking at. I am sure there are wonderful reasons for basically every team not doing this, but it is a thought. I'd love to hear from some of you - your thoughts.

Why might GSW do it? If Kenyon Martin is healthy, then this might be the spark that could add enough toughness to get them through. Biedrins/PPod/Murphy/Martin/Diogu seems like a pretty formitable frontcourt.

Why Denver might do it? They would be getting rid of the contracts they really don't want, and getting some tough frontline players for the inevitable injury time of Camby.

Why Dallas might do it? Young 3rd string PG. A true young long swingman with some offensive\defensive skills. A backup for Dirk in Kabarkapa who has some offensive skills (little D though), and a tough minded scrapper in Eddie.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
This would mean that Marshall/Pops doesn't make the team, and that two of Kabarkapa\Powell\Najera are on the inactive list most of the time with Ager.

It could be a very interesting team though, and very versitile.

Personally I don't think GSW would do it, but it is a thought.

Terry/Harris/Ellis
Bucknor/Stack
Howard/Pietrus
Dirk/(one of the three backup PF)
Diop/Damp/DJ

That would make for some very interesting combinations.

<edit> It would also have to happen after Sept 12, due to Croshere being a part of it.

Zarko doesn't have room on the roster. Pietrus would be a good option. The Warriors are pretty high on Monta Ellis, so i doubt they trade him this year. Not bad.

It looks alright, but I think we are getting a lot more than we're giving up.

Any other thoughts on this??

I thought sure someone would point out how GSW was getting royally shafted, and no way they do it.

I also thought some would say Dallas would never do it because of too much change.

I can't imagine Denver not doing it, but someone on this board is sure to know of a reason why they wouldn't.

So what if you aren't cut out to be a GM... at least you're honest!

The difference is, I get to do this every year with kids. I get to watch and draft/coach them based on skillsets alone, and then try to win a 10 game season and go on. Been doing it for years, and have learned alot.

That is one of the reasons I enjoy people who take the time to agree/disagree with this trade section. It gives insight as to why people would take a player or not -- then I look at that players skillset, and see if I can find another like him next fall.

So keep them coming.
