First story of the day, NBA will begin fining floppers this season.

Not the first time they've said they would do that, I believe.

They will call out and fine Reggie Evans, R.Bell, Barea...

They wont call out and fine their money cows James, Paul, Griffin...

Quotes might come rapid fire from Earl in the press conference room. I'm going to try to get everyone else on the practice court and I'm still working on confirming a one on one with Dirk. I'll still have the audio from the presser room, so those quotes will get out there.

We have a G+ hangout during the course of the day, as well, so quotes might be a tad delayed, but they'll be out there ASAP.

Here's an interesting quote from Elton Brand:

Quote:
"I don't think there's too many more teams with cap space than right here. Players are auditioning for jobs...in Dallas."

That's the exact opposite of Jason Terry's "I'm auditioning for 30 teams" mantra from last season.

@EKS_MavsNBA: Dirk said he didn't get reception on his phone in Africa, so he didn't speak with J-Kidd when he decided to leave for New York.

Spent a lot of time observing and talking to Dirk today. There's going to be a lot of good stuff in this interview.

I hope he is. He can be a knockdown shooter from midrange but I'm not at all in favor of him trying to significantly add to his offensive game at age 33. Stick to what you do best.

Of course its a joke. Brand is 2-16 from downtown. Not last season, in his entire career

“I feel good,” Nowitzki later added. “And that’s already a big chunk. If I feel good, we’re going to be OK.”

Brand's got some long arms. Dirk needs a defensive five. EB isn't the hyper athlete or jumper Tyson is but he's smart, long and likes to D up. He'll be great.

Dirk needs to get the same buzz cut that Kaman got. They'd be the German twins and opposing defenses can't figure out who's the guy that will step out and hit 3's. Kaman will switch his number to 11 so it kinda resembles 41.

He was there. There were two waves of photo shoots that went on. The first wave was from the pictures I tweeted out, same for Earl.

The second wave of photo shoots were with the rookies, invitees and Delonte. I saw him wandering from station to station as I was following Dirk. Kind of a funny little interaction went down between the two of them.

I guess the Dallas press isn't very enthusiastic about the Mavs because there isn't much press to be read or pics to be seen on the internet.

Bring on the games!

Brand: "You say Dwight Howard and Deron Williams, I know we as a team, with the pieces we’ve put together, I feel we could match or get close to matching what they would’ve brought. But individually, I’m not Dwight Howard any more.”

---------

He was actually almost better than Dwight lol.

Shows you how weak the center(big man) position is right now without Shaq, Mutombo, prime Duncan and co.

And Collison looks a little bigger than 6 feet. He really doesn't look that short at least compared to Mayo.
