SPOKANE, Wash. -- Jarron Collins scored 13 points and pulled down seven rebounds as the Utah Jazz beat the Seattle SuperSonics 89-82 in exhibition Sunday in John Stockton's hometown.
Stockton, who played for Gonzaga before beginning his 19-year NBA career, finished with 9 points and 5 rebounds in two quarters worth of work in front of 9,264 fans in the Spokane Arena.
Desmond Mason came off the bench to score 16 points for the Sonics, who stayed with the Jazz until midway through the third quarter. Gary Payton and Vladimir Radmonovic each scored 14 points for Seattle.
DeShawn Stevenson scored 12 points and Matt Harpring added 10 for the Jazz.
Seattle forward Rashard Lewis left the game in the first quarter with a sprained left shoulder.
Jerome James led Seattle in rebounds with seven.
I had no idea he had a problem with his shoulder. Now I am not so bummed about missing out on him. Still, would have been a coup.
