Pass interference questionable call. Sometimes you just have to let the guys play.

RE: New Orleans at Dallas Gameday Thread
We definitely need to consider our other options. I don't see how Henson can play worse than Vinny is right now.(Prove me wrong, Parcells. Play Henson) Some of the passes Vinny makes are ridiculous. Over thrown, under thrown, behind the receiver, over his head. Why can't he hit a pass today?

RE: New Orleans at Dallas Gameday Thread
On an unrelated note, Eli Manning was 4/18 for 27 yards and two picks. I'm amazed at how bad he's been.
Back to the subject at hand, if Henson really isn't ready, we need to play Romo and see what he's got. Parcells was bragging about his pre-season stats this week, lets see what he can do.
edit: Just checked Eli's passer rating....0.0!

My goodness, what was wrong with Vinny today?
I will stand by what I said early in the season: we would have at least a couple more wins, if not three or four, if Q-Car hadn't been released (or lost to suspension).

Well vinny just p*d away any chance of a wildcard that's for sure. If Henson isn't better than vinnie, then katie bar the door..

There must be something SERIOUSLY wrong with Henson if he can't play better than Vinnie did today.

RE:New Orleans at Dallas Gameday Thread
Only positive about today's game is we'll now be 5-11. Now it's definately time to see Drew or Romo and why do I have a strong feeling Vinny will be starting for us next season? Is there some record in his grasp that Bill wants him to break? And what really frustrates the hell out of me is how Bill takes up for his mistakes. It's an excuse for everytime Vinny effs up. I can't wait till we get a real threat to go along with Julius. The league is now on to Julius and you can definately expect defenses to start piliing up on the defensive line because we aren't a threat to go deep.

I said 6-10, before the season. It looks like its going to happen. I think the Cowboys don't think Drew is the guy. The bright side is we have two first round picks and a lot of cap space.

...and a huge spot to fill at quarterback. Any ideas on who they might try to aquire? I would say draft one, but I'm too unfamiliar with the collegiate qbs to pick a good one. I'm wondering who will be a free agent after this year. Brees will be, but I'm not sure if he is what this team needs.

I think there are only two sure-fire franchise QBs in this draft, Aaron Rogers and Matt Leinert. I think both will be picked in the top five picks, so if the Cowboys really liked either one of them, they'd need to make a serious trade.
In my opinion, there are too many holes on this team. I think we'd be better off adding two first round players instead of just one. That being said, there are plenty of second tier QBs that we could pick in the middle to late first round, or even in the second. Kyle Orton from Purdue is one of those, but the guy I really like is Alex Smith from Utah. He's big and has a great arm . Plus, he's incredibly mobile in the pocket.
The best thing is that he's a very, very smart player. At Utah, he didn't throw many interceptions. He took so many advanced placement courses in high-schoo that hel came into college as a Junior. He got his degree when he was 20. His daddy is John L. Smith, head coach of Michigan State, so you know he has football smarts to match his off the field smarts. At Utah, he proved he could succeed in leading a pass-first offense to an undefeated record. But his intelligence and sound decision making will allow him to be the perfect caretaker of a run oriented, Parcells offense.

RE: New Orleans at Dallas Gameday Thread
The way you describe him makes him sound ideal. Any idea which round he might go in the draft? It would be awesome to get two first-round defensive players and a mid 2nd round QB, followed by maybe a lineman 3rd round as usual.
Leaping into the future here, hypothetical: Saying that this so-called 2nd round QB actually pans out, it may change the way everyone views the draft. I mean, if we can get a star RB AND QB from the 2nd round, then people may start to think that maybe college performance isn't the most important factor in determining who will turn out to be the best NFL player.

I don't trust the Cowboys developing any quarterback. I want a sure thing and Kitna and Drew Brees are just that IMO.

Drew Brees will get the franchise tag.
edit: Unless San Diego GM is dumber than I think

That does not mean that he cannot then be traded.

I don't think they will keep Brees. 4th Over-all Pick Philip Rivers ought to be given a shot.

What about Hasselbeck from Seattle? Norm was talking about him today. Apparently he is going to be a free agent after this year, and he might be a "Parcells guy" since Bill coached his dad or somesuch and the kid used to be a ballboy.

RE: New Orleans at Dallas Gameday Thread
I've been watching Hasselbeck play since he was Favre's back up. He was impressive back then and seems like a better choice than inconsistant Brees. Did Norm give a reason why Seattle wouldn't re-sign him after this year? He's been pretty good for them lately.

I think Norm was just idly speculating. Come to think of it, he did throw out the possibility that Holmgren might not be back if they tank this season. Maybe that had something do with his thinking.
The sense I get from Parcells is that he would prefer someone like Hasselbeck to someone like Brees. Heck, I think he likes Romo better than Henson, for what that's worth...
