I know that the Wiz got back into 11, but most of those points by Arenas are relatively empty points. He's making a blowout look a little prettier than it actually was.

How about putting like one of those Center players on the court to stop the layups? Just a crazy thought I'd like to throw out there.

...let me add to that...he's EXTREMELY unstable with the left hand. The Mavs don't have alot of ball handling abilities out of their two guards.

Layups? Those are 3's their making and that's why they shedded the lead to 11.

RE:Washington @ Dallas Gameday Thread
Pretty cool to have 4 Mavs score 25+ points. Mavs win 137-120:
Howard (21) 3-5, 4-5, 10pts, 3rbs, 1to, 1stl
Dirk (43) 8-16, 0-1, 12-12, 28pts, 11rbs, 4as, 3tos, 3stls, 3blks
Dampier (13) 1-2, 4-4, 6pts, 2rbs, 1as
Finley (42) 8-17, 5-7, 4-4, 25pts, 3rbs, 5as, 2tos, 1blk
Terry (38) 10-12, 4-5, 2-3, 26pts, 4rbs, 7as, 2tos, 3stls
Stackhouse (34) 9-14, 2-4, 9-11, 29pts, 1rb, 3as, 5tos
Bradley (9) 2-3, 4pts, 2rbs
Henderson (22) 2-6, 1-2, 5pts, 12rbs, 1as, 1stl
Harris (9) 2-3, 4pts, 2rbs, 2as, 1to
Armstrong (1) 1stl
MBenga (1)

RE: Washington @ Dallas Gameday Thread
Impressive stat of the night: Armstrong with 48 steals per 48 minutes.
We need to do a way better job at closing out teams. Had we not been stellar in the first half, we could very well have lost this game. We gave up a lot of fouls, IMO mostly due to not having a center out there to intimidate players driving to the basket. That's exactly what Washington wanted, score with the clock stopped. Credit where credit is due though, Arenas was on fire from 3 point range, people were on his grill and he still nailed quite a few of them. Maybe we could have played a little more aggressive and gambled a bit more had a center been in the game.

holy crap. What's this then? I just got back from class and I saw the score-
137 to 120 and I was thinking that we had played two overtimes.
We shot 57.7% from the field and 64.7% from three for the game. We only put up 78 shots tonight and scored more than most of our games last year where we put up a hundred.

Hilarious.
the wiz score 80 in a half, set a record for the most points in a half by a mavs opponent...and lose by 17.

yup, 413. I live in Tempe....a few minutes away from the America West Arena
BTW: 10-12 shooting from Terry is absolutely silly. Finley and Terry combining for 9-12 shooting from three is even sillier.

If we allow Washington 105 points at home, without larry hughes, than are defense hasn't made any improvment since last year.
Mavs win it 117-98.

Well, we gave up 120... My guess wasn't that wrong!

RE:Washington @ Dallas Gameday Thread
I watched the game last night 'cause I live in Maryland and they play Wiz game on TV!!
A few thoughts:
1.) Terry needs to learn how to dribble through traffic. That dude loses his ball soooooooooo easily. It says he only had 2 turnovers but I thought he lost his dribble more than that. But the positive thing is his shooting is great.
2.) Devin Harris shows some potential there. He dribbles fast and he keeps his head up all the time. I can see a little Stevie Nash in him. I like him. He drew many Charge but the refs didn't give him any respect. The only thing I haven't seen from him is his outside shooting. He kept passing th ball out when he is open.... not sure why.
3.) Stackhouse had lots of turnovers but he did contribute a lot in this game. He kept going to the basket to draw fouls and he hit a big 3 in the end to avoid Wiz' come back.
4.) Wizard's come back is no surprise to me really. They were freaking hot in the end. Terry did put his hand up but the guys were just freaking hot. They were hot for a while 'cause they had nothing to lose. I mean they already gave up 37 pts at one point so what does it matter if they shoot 3 in the end. If the 3 go in, great, if not, it's a blow out loss. I wouldn't worry too much about it.
5.) Howard looks skinny!! lol

RE:Washington @ Dallas Gameday Thread
Taken from the ESPN game recap.
Did You Know ...
The Mavericks, who had four players score at least 25 points in a game, are the third team since the NBA-ABA merger (1976-77 season) to accomplish such a feat:
Jan. '05 Mavericks (vs. Washington): Jerry Stackhouse (29), Dirk Nowitzki (28), Jason Terry (26), Michael Finley (25)
Jan. '90 Warriors (at Boston): Chris Mullin (30), Mitch Richmond (26), Terry Teagle (26), Tim Hardaway (25)
April '88 Nuggets (vs. Houston): Danny Schayes (32), Fat Lever (28), Alex English (26), Michael Adams (26)

I assumed that it would be a record but I also assumed there would be more teams up there like the Lakers or the Celtics.

10-12 from the field for Terry....7 assists with more steals than turnovers 3/2....is he starting to prove his worth to Nellie yet?

He's averaging 35 minutes in Jan. as opposed to about 25 the 1st two months of the season, so I'm going to say yes.
Our PG situation is looking pretty good. I haven’t seen a better pass all season than the Devin Harris left handed laser to Henderson directly off the dribble in the 1st half…truly a thing of beauty.

Stock made the highly difficult pass with such regularity it was total commonplace...Stock made the difficult appear simple as opposed to the players of today who make the simple appear difficult.
I love me some John Stockton...give me more players like that today.

RE: Washington @ Dallas Gameday Thread
I was disappointed that we gave up 80 points in the 2nd half, at home, to a team without it's 2nd leading scorer and playing on the 2nd of the back-to-back nights. We missed a great opportunity to rest some of our starters and get some valuable playing time to our reserves.
Good win and I shouldn't complain, I guess.
