San Antonio Spurs @ Houston Rockets(11/14/06 7:30PM CST)
The top 2 teams in our division. One of them has to lose, so it's win-win for us. Which do you think it will be?

Are there any technicalities in the rule book we can exploit so that they both lose?

What are the keys to victory in the game between Spurs and Rockets?
Since the Mavs and the Rockets have already played, I thought I'd ask the Mav fans--what do you think are the keys to victory for either team.
For my own, the Spurs have to find a way to contain Yao Ming. He had a great game against the Mavs and last night he had a great game against the Heat. ESPN's telecast had a graphic at halftime showing that his points per game have been steadily growing each year and he made Shaq look like a dufus. Tim, Oberto and Francisco Ellson will definitely have their hands full
As for the Rockets, they need to find a way to clog up the lanes and not allow Tony Parker to get as much penetration as he has been getting all year. (Probably thanks to Eva). He finally has developed a nice jumper which he has been using this year for when teams prevent him from going to the glass.
BTW--congrats to the Mavs against Portland. The Rose garden can be a difficult place to play and that was a nice win.

Hmm, I'd tell Bowen to slip under McGrady's jumpshot, but I'm sure he's already planning on it.

With the way McGrady is shooting this year Bruce should just leave him alone.

As far as keys to winning goes. San Antonio must be abel to deny the pass to Ming down low. Once that pass has arrived, either the Spurs defense will collapse on him allowing him to use his superb passing skills to dish it out to one of the multiple three point threats they have, or if the defense doesn't collapse he will simply turn and shoot over the defender. Oh, and don't event think about fouling him...he's shooting something like 87% from the line.
But by the way, I'll be rooting for the Rockets.

Ultimately? I'd say scoring more than your opponent. That seems to work well.

Yao will have a monster game but if McGrady doesn't snap out of it I think the Spurs win this one.

Put Bowen on Ming.
He can tie Yao to a bed and pull a Kathy Bates (in Misery) on his ankle.

I just hope he does it to Timmy in practice....he forgets not to do it to a teammate....becasue its just habit.

Chuck Hayes is out for two weeks. He was our starter who injected energy into the starting lineup and did real well cutting to the basket when Yao and T-mac were double teamed. Juawan has a better shot, but is suspect on defense.

Spurs win this one, but it'll be close.

I hope Bowen breaks his face and Yao goes for 75 on Duncan.

if you have money on the rockets go ahead and count on the double up, they are destroying the spurs... Tmac looks great and Yao looks better than timmy. Scary combo. I know its early to say that about yao and all but they look scary...

spoke too soon. I dont know if im glad or not to see that the spurs get bs calls against other teams too though. Yao and Tmac have been fouled probably 10 times apiece without calls tonight. This is just sad. I see now why the spurs get mad about officiating... If its even close to fair it would look horribly lopsided against them with what they get used to throughout the year...

You know--the case could be made that if anyone benefitted from the refs in the series between SA and the Mavs, Dirk and company definitely got an overly abundant number of trips to the FT lines, so I'd think twice before spouting off like this.
