Default "Stong Offer" for Dampier

http://www.nypost.com/sports/knicks/18061.htm

This is a joke. Nazr Mohammed who has 2 years 11 million dollars left on his contract and Othella Harrington who is a big-time spare (free agent at the end of this year) for Dampier? Indiana was offering them Austin Croshere who has 3 years 27 million dollars left on his contract and Scott Pollard who has 2 years 12 million dollars left on his contract is an even bigger joke.

Now in an earlier thread...I suggested Walker, Laettner, Pavel, and Flores for Dampier, NVE, and Eschmeyer. Is that not fair enough? If New York's trade proposal is a "strong offer"...then Dallas' blows them out of the water.

There isn't as much demand for the career spare as most initially thought. Maybe you can get him for Laettner... but then again, Laettner has had a better career than Dampier.

The only trade Peter Vescey got right was when New York traded the rights to Nene Hilario for Antonio Mcdyss. Boy I bet he wished he was wrong on that one, hahahaha. 90% of anything that guy says is garbage.

Nash13: "enough said."

When I saw "New York Post"...that's exactly what I thought.

MadApe: Would you rather go after Big Z? He's definitely put up consistent numbers for his career, but is he a physical, defensive-minded center? I think Walker, Laettner, Pavel and Flores can get you Illgauskas, Ollie, and Newble. Ollie and Newble have long-term deals...both have 4 years 13 million left on their contracts.

I would want to take either pavel or laetner out, and take out newble. He is a good definsive player but wouldnt get much time here. Ollie is a good fit though. i would throw in someone like delf if necissary. If we kept laetner, we would have just as many expiring contracts as we do now... which is about 20 mil. That could help us a lot.

akaarod03 - I read the same quote from Vecsey that you did, and I got a good laugh out of it. If Nazr Mohammed and Othella Harrington were any good, the Knicks would want to keep them.

Mohammed is a weak rebounder and shot-blocker for a C and he might also complain about playing time behind A. Foyle. O. Harrington couldn't beat out the mediocre Kurt Thomas and Michael Sweetney at PF so he's filler at best. Harrington has a decent post game but hasn't shown any defensive capabilities with either HOU, VAN, or the Knicks.
