Default Better candidates than Nellie?

If Nellie gets canned ... The list of available replacements doesnt look too promising.

Byron Scott --- Hell no.
Doc Rivers --- Like him, but not sure if he can get the Mavs to D up.
George Karl --- Has managed to alienate every player everywhere he's coached. Not very hot on him.

Who else is there? We may be resigned to another year of Nellie ball.

We could do the recycle routine with Riley (gag, gag) or possibly Jackson (assuming he quits the Lakers). We could also try something new with Avery Johnson (who I expect to be a VERY fine coach in a VERY short time).

Doc Rivers.
The people would flip if Cuban hired him. I'd like to see the fan reaction when Doc and his white wife hit town. They'd have someone to hate more than Quincy Carter. It would be great for the talk shows.

To kiki's suggestions no, no and no. The Quinn Buckner year we experienced one of the worst seasons by a team in NBA history. Motta to old, and Cleamons hell no.

I hope you were being sarcastic.

I gotta agree. CWDogg, there's no place here for a remark like this.

Avery Johnson is at the top of my list right now.

I might be one of the few, but I like Doc Rivers as a possibility.

Donnie, if there is not other clear option . He couldn't do it worse. Avery has no experience, but he could start being Donnie's assistant.

I'd give Donnie a chance. No more than a season, it's easy to know if he could or not, I insist, if there is not other option; but never another season for Nellie.

But I'm sure several serious prospects are going to be mentioned for the media during the summer, when the pressure starts to make fans claim for the Parcells of the Mavs.

George Karl scares me to death but he seems really smart from his remarks during the game. For the most part he has by far made the best assesments about the mavs this year especially with Bradley getting more pt and Dirk bemcoming the focal point of the offense. I would love to give him a try except like aexchange alluded to, handling players really isn't his thing.
