just watched Trainspotting last night. I had seen it a while back, but finally bought it. great movie. out there, and it's plot is all over the place, but still great.

Trainspotting
Requiem for a dream
Dazed and confused
Traffic
Blow

I'm sure there are some I'm forgetting.

Funny movies about mary jane...

Reefer Madness - remember kids, marijuana cigarettes make you go insane.
Homegrown - Bon Jovi & Ted Danson together again, is N. California really like this?
Saving Grace - Craig Ferguson learns about hydroponics and generally acts scottish.
Easy Rider - Jack Nicolson, Peter Fonda & Dennis Hopper act like hippies, biker hippies
Half Baked - "...coming in like El-Nino... It's my main man, WHO? - Sir smokes-a-lot."
Up in Smoke - Cheech & Chong together again, is S. California really like this?
Grass - the Documentary - Woody Harrelson narrates: Hemp is God's gift to man.

Basketball Dairies - that movie was pretty depressing. Not a terrific film but I think DiCaprio plays a good junkie.

Hoosiers - forever a classic
Hoop Dreams - documentary that doesn't put you to sleep
Scooby-Doo & the Harlem Globetrotters - for my nephew
Love & Basketball - for that occasional stay-in dates.

snatch and lock stock are both great.

you know, i have always liked Pitt in the roles where he's not made up to look handsome all the time - Snatch, Seven, 12 Monkeys, Fight Club, True Romance (great performance! ),

I just finished the last four episodes of my 'Miami Vice: Season I' DVD box set, and I have to say that the first season of Michael Mann's masterpiece is just as great as I remembered it having been, from the time when I watched it as a kid...

(And I guess I just became an Elite member with this post. Huzzah!)

That movie was missing only one thing, IMO. Bruce Campbell. Cast him instead of that guy who looked like a gay version of him and you've got a true classic.

My most recent viewings: Ong-Bak and Iron Monkey. If any of y'all can appreciate some good martial arts and haven't seen either of these I highly recommend them, though I don't believe Ong-Bak is out in most rental stores yet. My brother ran across it in some privately owned video store in Austin about a year or so before its US theatrical release and we bought it on ebay last year. The guy who plays the lead (Tony Jaa is how he's credited in the American release, but his real name is, I believe, Panom Yeerum) is freaking amazing - the whole movie's basically a showcase for him. For those who don't know Iron Monkey, one of the main characters is Donnie Yen, who plays Sky (the guy with the spear) in Hero.

Edit: Just saw the Anchorman mention. That movie is hilarious. What made it even funnier for me is that the depiction of the triviality of the San Diego local news (I live in San Diego) is actually almost accurate. Panda births, dog shows, and the kind of scattered showers that central Texans wouldn't even notice are big news out here.

City of God is greatness, sike. And our women are as well

Meet the Fockers, House of Flying Daggers, Fight Club, Transporter, Gladiator, and a THX Demo disk currently reside in my Changer. GOD I love to blast with that THX disk. HoFD is pretty good, I plan on watching it back from the start today (have gone only half way through it, might as well start over).

City of God is brilliant and Snatch is hilarious. The Spanish Prisoner is very good, though it's been forever since I've seen it.

Good films that have passed through the ol' DVD player recently: Sleuth, The Insider, The Day the Earth Stood Still, This Is Spinal Tap, Hotel Rwanda, Sideways, and Mulholland Dr. (one of my all-time faves that usually inspires a love-it-or-hate-it reaction from viewers)

mulholland Dr... Bizarre. I actually watched it for the first time on DVD, with my Girlfriend (who is now my wife), my Mom, and my Sister. yeah, just a little awkward.
