Default Mavs 128 Warriors 106

Nothing much to see here really, we went out there, hit our shots, protected the home court against a terrible road team, and beat a team we're supposed to beat.

A well played offensive game by all really. Dirk with an efficient 26 points on 12 shots. Dampier with 8 points and 10 boards. JET with a great game. Wright was wonderful in the 1st. GREEN off the bench with 14 points!

Really, not much to say. Morrow was great. Damn we coulda had him! The defense was a little shoddy but when you're shooting 60% on offense its natural to have a slight let down defensively.

We got to the line, hit our shots, we beat a team we were supposed to beat. Really there's no need to further elaborate.

Now on to Denver who looked very good tonight against the Hornets.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Sgt. Slaughter again

I think Ghazi has made 82 game reports before the season started and there are only some pessimistic left on his drive.

No mention of the revenge we exacted after that embarrassing loss ten days or so ago.

Me, I would have started my recap with: "We tapped that ass!" And gotten more colorful from there.

One though that sorta floated across my mind during the course of the game:

I think this off-season is going to be a critical one for Antoine Wright. It was that light of a game where this one thought came across in my thought process. Anyways, I think it's important for him to continue to develop some consistency with the range, beyond the arc. The major key to it all is to develop that but not lose sight of what makes him a pretty nice player and that's driving the lane and playing pretty darn good defense. He's made strides from last year to now with regards to his shooting, he just needs to keep progressing...he might make someone else we know even more expendable if he keeps working and the value for said player shines through.

Going into the 4th quarter it was a pretty lackluster night IMO for the PG position for us. Kidd was doing the subtle things to make things going but it didn't really feel like it had a major impact on the game. Then boom...JJ takes off.

It's REALLY good to see Jet out of whatever funk he was in during the ATL/IND games.

The more I see Captain Jack the more I kind of want him on our roster. Defense might be a touch and go issue at times, but the guy will definitely bring some aggression and swagger to the team.

Was at work for this one. Looks like the guys are playing well. I just hope when Josh comes back he doesnt disrupt the playing of the other guys, but it will no doubt happen.

Good game tonight, things were clicking when we needed them to.

Green can play a lil and not just dunking, it is obviously going to be confusing and frustrating to wonder when or hoping to see him again. Hollins got a few mins and that was cool, we could end up needing him in the playoffs and it would be good to have him ready and confident.

I don't get RC's rotations and pt, that is my bitch about him. He asks Hollins to come in and play Shaq out of nowhere. He does that really well then he gets nothing for a few games. Then he is asked to come in and start in place of Damp a couple of games, He does all this really well IMO and there seems to be little reward in the way of a consistent role. The same goes for Green, he can play and does well but doesn't get consistent playing time. Kinda annoying.

Honestly, Ghazi... If there's "nothing to see" every game, you're just not looking hard enough.

Who else watches 100% of the games? BG how bout you?

I think its amazing to see just how much Wright has improved from the beginning of the year. What most people don't realize when they talk about him on here is how much he handles the ball. Hes a really good overall player IMO, and would be even better if he improves is 3pt shot. Soo hopefully he works on that this summer and I would like to see this guy as our future starting 2. I think he can make it.

I would certainly support your decision if you decided to make the recaps yourself. All ghazi's recaps are made from a cookie cutter.

You are as annoying as ghazi's recaps! The same negative crap about one of our players that is injured. Let it be for a while please.

Not 100% but definitely a mass majority of them, GDTs definitely haven't worked in my favor but I sure do enjoy writing up anything I notice AFTER the game.

Maybe I just haven't paid enough attention to him, but he looks pretty much the same to me. He is definitely not starting material, and never will be. Don't hold your breath for him to improve his 3pt shot. He's 25 and has been in the league 4 years already. By that point guys pretty much are what they are.

Edit: Ghazi, just out of curiosity, when was the last time the Mavs beat a team that they weren't "supposed" to beat?

I don't know what we need to do, guys, honest. But we certainly need to up our game if we think we are going to compete in the playoffs. This penny-ante shit we are throwing out there right now is going to get our asses tossed in the first round quicker than you can say blueberry pancakes.

I think it's time we look ourselves square in the eyes and decide if we are good enough to belong here. If not, let's just mail in it now and save ourselves the embarrassment.

Maybe Post-GDTs are my calling then since I nutted up with the Celtics, Jazz, and Hawks games...ALL ROAD BTW () and went 0-3. At least I went big...unfortunately, I went home as well.

The season ended for me the minute the trade deadline passed and the Mavs didn't get anything done. This roster is just not good enough.

Edit: Ghazi, just out of curiosity, when was the last time the Mavs beat a team that they weren't "supposed" to beat?
I feel confident in saying I've paid enough attention in Wright to notice differences. Last year when he got a bump and got more playing time he was a breath of fresh air. He was attacking with consistency, showed a nice ability to create for other players and he tried his best on defense. The problem was he didn't seem to look that confident taking jumpers. He had to be wide open to take them.

Now he's getting more comfortable, even taking catch and shoot jumpers. The problem is the range isn't fully there yet. 18-20 feet might be the breaking point right now. I feel pretty good about him inside of that range. He's getting a little better at the corner 3s, but on the wings and dead on is a problem. The thing is he is showing confidence a lot more now. Also, he's STILL holding his own on defense...and bringing productivity on offense, that's rare air you're talking about.

It might be 4 years, but I take him at a discount because maybe 2 years ago is when he really got some time to grow and develop into where he is now. There is still room for him to climb. The concern I have is J-Ho'itis. Wright can drive and finish, I just don't need him falling in love with the jumper. Get above respectable, and have the shot fake ready to create more room to drive.

Great win for the Mavs!

Dirk and JET were both great. They were both very efficient and carried the team at the early part of the game.

Kidd had an average game. He didn't take a lot of shots, but considering how the other players were shooting well, he really didn't have to. He got his usual assists and rebounds and directed the flow well.

Damp played well in the minutes that he got. He was 2 points shy of a double double and really dominated in the post. Its good to see him come back strong after being away due to injury.

Wright had a great first half. He shot very well and he didn't force too many plays. He even scored with his left hand on a layup. His defense was again good.

JJB was a much needed spark at the end of the 3rd quarter. He really carried that team in the closing minutes of the 3rd. My only fear every time he shoots well or every time he has a good game is that he tends to force shots or make terrible decisions. Tonight, he didn't do those. He really played well tonight, particularly in the 2nd half. He also tends to over dribble and pass it with time running out occasionally. But then again, he's young. I hope he continues to learn and improve. He has to create a balance between scoring and passing to the other players around him.

It was nice to see Green get decent playing time. No doubt about it, he can score. It was particularly refreshing to see him make a good decision (when he passed the ball to Bass) on the court. That kind of play hopefully will earn him more playing time.

I was hoping for more playing time for Hollins, considering he has been playing well the past few games. This game was probably one game where his athleticism would have been really highlighted. I'm wondering why Carlisle chose to put him in only in the last 4 minutes of the game.

The turnovers in the first half were extremely annoying. I think the Mavs had 10 at the half. The lead would have been a lot bigger if only they took better care of the ball. I'm glad they were more careful with the ball in the 2nd half and finished with a total of 14.

Offense was great tonight. It pretty much came from everybody. Defense was okay, but it could have been better.

Overall, a great win. The starters/main players played limited minutes. Hopefully they will be ready for Denver on Friday.

Go Mavs!

After taking a look at his game-by-game stats, March and February to jump out at you. Still, don't expect him to magically develop a 3pt shot. That's something you pretty much just have or you don't.

Not to be mean, but you haven't written anything interesting at all. Every recap is almost exactly the same.

At least let someone else try. It's just going to get worse if you try to push out recaps super fast to beat everyone else.

edit: if you want to see what I mean, take a look at montys post a few up ^^^ That's a recap.

He doesn't have to perfect it...heck, he doesn't have to be great at it with every area behind the arc. The sweet spot is those corner 3s. They're shorter distances and they are blind spots for opposing defenses. Bruce Bowen immediately comes to mind with that. When he was rolling with the corner 3s, it's a killer. I would take that any day of the week.

I don't think so! You need to bring some more passion and energy, brutha. You are lulling us all to sleep!

Get your head out of your ass and start recognizing a big win when you see a big win. Get rid of this science-fiction idea you have about games you are "supposed to win." Quit thinking about hoisting a trophy over your head and start focusing on EVERY GAME.

Get your perspective right, soldier. Nobody needs you shooting shots in the finals, when you aren't even in the playoffs yet. Take it as it comes, my man. Play the opponent in front of you.

Again, if he doesn't have it now, he's not going to. And he definitely doesn't have it. I'm not trying to hate on the guy, but we need a stud at the 2. He's not it.

This is the last I'll say about the subject because there isn't really anything else for me to add. Looking where he thrives:
the Right corner is better for him, percentage wise, vs the left and the and then the left wing is his next best spot.

Since 2006, the right corner yields a 36% rate
the left corner is at a 33% rate
the left wing is 30%

Those corners aren't spots you can easily take away either. They're spots where you can slide right into and we have instances where it's there plenty of times.

If you know your strengths and play to them...you'll succeed. He's already shown me that he has worked on his jumper and has more confidence with it. If he can work over the summer on on those corners...and he can up it 3-6%, I'll take it.
