Curious the crickets in Wood?s defense?he had some spot moments showing flashes of some post presence and shot altering (maybe a block or two). But not great when Naz fuckin Reid goes for almost 30. He also got caught on a smaller switch a couple times committing fouls. Not gonna let that sneak by here when everyone is taking shots.

People think I hate Wood but IMO he's our best option to get better this year via trade

If your not got going to play him next a defensive mind Big then your just asking for trouble defensively

This team more than anything needs a rim protecting big if they want to salvage this season and in order to get that Wood is your best trade chip

The collective toxicity is a reflection of the disillusionment and panic setting in on the fact that the roster is going backwards 5 years into the Luka era. Cuban is incompetent to run a FO. Spewing toxic thoughts is a form of venting. What good is this board if not a place to exchange thoughts and do some good ole fashion blowing off of steam. It's not like we are going to have any ability to change the direction of the team if we just all stay positive exude confidence. From a glass half empty perspective I have zero confidence they would be able to succeed in any sort of rebuild even if Luka is traded for a haul in a year or two. I can also tell you definitively that I along with a lot of people I converse with would be out for the long haul if the Mavs lose Luka.

Luka is attitudinal and only plays defense when things are flowing and people are hitting the offensive looks he gives them. His defensive instincts are actually great when his give-a-shit is on point. There is a reason he is blowing away Green et al in most defensive metrics. Luka's D not the problem - his being surrounded by a team of bad NBA players is. If Green had half of Luka's defensive instincts and understanding of the game he would actually be above average on D but as it is Josh Green is extreme hustle and virtually No understanding of where he should be positioned on D

Luka was playing hurt from the get-go. You could tell he was hobbled. He stubbornly stayed in and made mistake after mistake.

But I and others predicted this would happen. That Luka would be run down by mid season because the FO doesn't understand talent management in the least.

Luka has an attitude problem, sure, but he has to carry this say sack team every night. It just isn't sustainable.

It's hard for me to believe Green and Dinwiddie are untouchable.

If Mavs are looking LT then I can see Green as virtually untouchable, but Dinwiddie should be somewhat available.

If Mavs are looking ST then I can see Diwiddie as virtually untouchable, but Green should be somewhat available.

This is the half-assed approach that has us in the position we are in right now.

And I sound like a broken record, but they have to address this frontcourt mess ASAP. We have no playable defensive-oriented bigs on this team now that Maxi is out.

Fair. Saying Luka sucks on defense is casting a wide net. But from the aspect of, if you are getting blown by, and not recovering and making your rotations on time, you ultimately suck.
