Pietrus agrees to terms with Orlando
Per Espn.com
Florida Today reported on Tuesday that the Magic have reached a verbal agreement with free-agent swingman Mickael Pietrus, who played for the Golden State Warriors last season.
Orlando general manager Otis Smith told the newspaper that the five-year veteran will receive almost all of the Magic's midlevel exception, which starts at $5.2 million next season. The team is expected to sign Pietrus to a multiyear contract on Wednesday.

I didn't hope so, I believed the whispers that they weren't interested in him...that he was more of an athlete vs an actual basketball player.

true. interestingly enough many have said the same thing about gerald green, that hes just an athlete not a basketball player. however, we got him for the minimum vs the mle for pietrus so i guess it not as much of a problem...

Multi-year contract at most of the mid-level exception for Pietrus?
Good luck with all that. Diop is a fantastic signing compared to that.

I think Green has gotten a little more pub than just an athlete...he has shown the ability to shoot the ball well.
But yup, it makes the Green signing very, very savvy.

For that price range, that's a good thing.

If you are a runner, but you fly to Cleveland and watch hockey with friends, can you really say you are in the race in the first place?

I wouldn't say he sucks but he certainly hasn't lived up to his potential. He makes too many mental mistakes and thinks he deserves more minutes whether he's playing well or not.
A change might be good for him but we'll see after he gets that contract.

It's looking more and more like any potential significant move for the Mavs is going to have to be either a trade or sign and trade.
I'm actually very happy with the way these other team's signings have played out.
