Default Dallas - Charlotte

Charlotte has shown a propensity for being cheap and trying to shed salary when the opportunity arises. Dallas has shown a willingness to take on a bad deal in order to acquire talent when the opportunity presents itself. The two teams have also been willing to deal. That said:

Dallas sends:
JJB
Haywood
Butler
1st round pick

Charlotte sends:
DJ Augustin
Tyrus Thomas
Stephen Jackson

Charlotte saves almost $25-$30M over the life of the contracts and gets out of bad deals to Thomas and Jackson. Butler and Barea expire after this season. Haywood plugs in as their starting C which they desperately need. They give Dallas a large tip in Augustin to make this deal happen and you potentially now have the ability to roll out a 3 guard lineup of Augustin/Beaubois/Kidd or Augustin/Terry/Kidd.

Thoughts?

I like where your head's at. That's the kind of deal we should be looking for.

There is no way the Bobcats trade Augustin. He is playing a really nice first season as a starter. They trade Crash before DJ.

Too bad we cant offer them our Carroll TE to take Carroll back add Butler and Wallace

They have never shied away from taking bad contracts if the net effect created a reduced salary commitment for them. I give you the Diop trade as exhibit A and the Dampier trade where they took on Carroll and Najera in the trade.

I agree the acquisition of Augustin is questionable but is needed if we are going to take the terrible contracts of Jax and Thomas off their hands.

They have no interest in trading him, though he may not be worth 7 million he is young and a pretty good player, that still has some upside, they want to cut cap by trading Gerald and Stephen, not any of there young parts

I know he is undersized, but I wouldn't mind getting Brown cheaply if we can, with them having TT, they don't have a huge need for him, and they may take on a center as a project as they don't have a center of the future

Augustin and Thomas are NOT going anywhere. The only ones who might be available would be Jax or Crash. I'd love either.
