Errr I guess I should have said "to spite people". Either way, Wade is an idiot. They lost because JET and Dirk would not be denied.

Watching this game again from time to time, it was easily our best game in the finals. If Dirk would have hit his normal shots in the first half, this could have been a rout at the end, the Heat never really had a chance in that game, we were so focused, and determined, playing perfect team ball, on both ends.

Going into this game I thought there's no way we were going to dominate game 6. But we did. We outplayed them from start to finish. The score was much closer than the game itself.

the following is from today's Bill Simmons MVP story - - but I found this
tidbit about LeBron very interesting....
LeBron famously shrank from The Moment against Boston on Sunday. A friend of mine sat right next to Miami's bench in Dallas during Game 4 of the Finals and told me the following story: If you remember, Dallas called timeout after Miami jumped to a seven-point lead with 10 minutes to play. The series looked like it was over, or headed that way, barring a semi-improbable comeback. Wade had been carrying them for this game and the previous one; now, the table was set for LeBron to bring them home. His teammates knew better than anyone.
Here's how my friend remembers it: "They were excited in the huddle because they knew they were close (to finishing Dallas off). I was right there, I was sitting three feet away from their trainer. LeBron sat down and started chewing his fingers. I remember (assistant coach) Bob McAdoo and a few other bench guys kept coming over, slapping him on the shoulder and saying, 'Come on, Bron, take us home.' And he was just staring into space and chewing his nails. I remember AT THAT MOMENT wondering, 'How would MJ be right now?' I thought for sure LeBron would get fired up and feed off those guys. He looked like he wanted no part of it! So they go back out and Dallas starts coming back. Next timeout, same thing. 'Come on, Bron, take us home.' And he's staring into space and chewing his nails. I could see Wade's face. Remember, Wade played his ass off in those Dallas games. Wade had this look on his face like, 'Oh, fuck me.' That was when I knew Dallas could win. I don't think LeBron has it in him. I will never forget watching that from that close. I feel like I witnessed history and actually felt that way as it was happening."... http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/...g-nba-mvp-race

Watching dirk being on another plane after that win was chilling, I've never seen anyone so zoned in.

Strange, that Lebron's like this. I still remember that Piston-Cavs epic playoff game where he would not let the Cavs lose. It's like 2 different players, 2 different people. Could be he embraces the underdog role and goes all out to prove everyone wrong, yet in the face of adversity as a favorite on the throne, he rolls over.

He'd never not lived up to expectations prior to that Pistons-Cavs series. Shit gets in some people's heads.
This thread is awesome.
That is all.

Man watching that video, the whole powder thing sucks, but getting Dwight would be huge for this franchise and for Dirk.
Hopefully Dwight picks us

I wasn't a part of this forum at the time, heck during game 6 i had to work till midnight pacific time.
I remember telling everybody not to tell me the score of the game. I remember coming home after work, dead tieed and it was around midnight.
I had me some food and a few beverages that i picked up from the only place open, they didn't have much selection so i bought a big smirnoff ice and a few beers for the game.
That was the sweetest game ever, all my friends from high school who always razzed on me for being a Mavs fan, were pulling for the Mavs to win the series.
They were all happy as NBA fans, to see Dirk get a ring.
Man what a year that was, i didn't expect to make it past LA.
But to take down LA, to take down OKC, and than to take down the big three in their first year, amazing.
Miami winning back to back with essentially the same team goes on to show just how great that team was playing at the time.
Ive witnessed my favorite college teams win championships and i never got as emotional over that as i did the Mavs getting a ring.

Just finished watching the mavs dvd again.
It really tears me up we didnt sign chandler to a 3 or 4 year deal along with barea.
The fight the '11 mavs had was amazing. It hurts to see how much Dirk and kidd appreciated having Chandler down low wrecking havoc only to be gone the very next season.

The Musers did a segment on Dirk this morning... reminded me to revisit the importance of this series.

It kills me that we didn't have a center earlier. Dirk has 4 or 5 rings if he plays witch chandler his whole career.

That's a very extreme statement, but I get the "if only" feeling. For me, the bigger tragedy is that we didn't get Jason Kidd a few years sooner. Now, but put Dirk and Kidd together in the early 2000's, then yes, Dirk definitely has multiple rings. Hell, forget players, if we had just gotten Carlisle back in 03-06 then I think Dirk has at least two rings.

Tyson was such a perfect fit next to dirk. And 06 dirk is still the best version of dirk we ever had(he was still athletic then)

I'm STILL angry about Nash getting the 06 MVP and Dirk getting ZERO respect outside of Dallas. Dirk was EASILY the real MVP that year. The media and casual NBA watchers all just couldn't get Nash's c*ck out of their mouths for a good 3-4 years there.
