I'd love to see how well DMC could play next to veterans like Dirk and Matrix as well as a tremendously talented coach like Rick. He's a total knucklehead, but with the right environment he could be a top 10 player and the best or second-best center in the West. It'd be worth the risk for the package that they're proposing, though I have a hard time believing that nobody else would offer a better trade.

I am all for trying it. Better a talented knucklehead with fire than a bunch of second-string boring players who tend to lose all the time.

Prefer Gortat. Relative to what each would presumably cost.

I bet Gortat would be harder to get right now.

Gortat's playing well again. He seemed to be in Gentry's doghouse for a spell.
im sure that they've fielded a few offers for him already. Good low-mileage Centers are a precious commodity around the league. Cousins is 4-5 yrs. younger and so may still fetch more just for his upside and due to his pedigree.

I agree, I'd take the risk on this kid. He can ball.

So this was the game Cousins actually hit the 15-18 ft. shots that he loves to jack? happens for every decent player a couple times a year. And wouldn't we much rather have Dirk taking those jump shots at a far more efficient clip?
Im not saying Cousins cant be a good player. He's a good passing big and has a nice touch and is a willing rebounder. But he isn't anything special athletically
and needs a lot of touches to impact a game. His defense isn't very good. He doesn't protect the rim or rotate well. Hell, Kings fans complain that he doesn't even bother to get back on defense a lot of the time.

As far as on-court language is concerned, that actually sounds pretty tame.

It's not the language. It's the sexist, derogatory intent and perspective that the words betray.

It is one thing to cry about calls and quite another to blatantly tell a ref off in his face like that. Stupid.

Again, I would be willing to bet that every single game, something worse is said to each of the officials. The only reason DMC got tossed was his constant badgering of the officials.
But then, I would also say that Keith Smart is an awful coach who doesn't control his players. Give a talent like DMC to Rick and he'd be an All Star the first season.

Want no part of him. The only young players Rick nurtures are scrappy, up from bootstraps guys in his own image like Barea, Crowder, Mike James- "i like him. Alot". Guys with lots of physical gifts like Cousins, Corey Brewer, Roddy, Brandon Wright need to be brought back down to earth. Thats my amateur psychological insight for the day :P

Is that really an excuse? If you tell an official to stop acting like a woman, then what do you think is going to happen? How about translating that immature temper into tougher defense.

He's just channeling his inner Garnett. It's gotten Garnett a long way.
