Default 90% chance of another war?

Ok does this bother anyone else? Maybe its pre-emptive but if we we're to launch an attack, I know for a fact that us here in the States would all be in deep shit. N Korea isn't some little sand dune we can crush for the fun of it. This country has the man power and allies( russia) to severly hurt us on our own land. Should we just back off of it, or is bush going to pull well a "bush"?

North Korea Indicates Six-Party Talks Over

1 hour, 13 minutes ago Top Stories - AP

UNITED NATIONS - North Korea's deputy U.N. ambassador indicated Friday that six-nation talks on the country's nuclear program were over and said the real issue is whether the United States intends to attack the reclusive communist nation.

Han Song Ryol made clear that his country's announcement Thursday that it is a nuclear power and would indefinitely suspend its participation in six-party negotiations was the result of Pyongyang's belief that the United States is bent on invading North Korea to topple Kim Jong II's authoritarian regime.

But Han went further in a brief interview Friday with Associated Press Television News when asked what it would take to get North Korea to come back to the six-party talks.

"Six party talks is old story. No more," the North Korean envoy replied in English.

Han was quoted in a South Korean newspaper on Friday as demanding bilateral talks with the United States to defuse the tension created by Thursday's announcement.

"If the United States moves to have direct dialogue with us, we can take that as a signal that the United States is changing its hostile policy toward us," he was quoted as telling South Korea (news - web sites)'s Hankyoreh newspaper in an interview Thursday.

But Han appeared to backtrack on the demand in Friday's APTN interview when he was asked whether the United States needs to have bilateral talks with North Korea.

"No, we do not ask for bilateral talks," Han replied. "The formality of the dialogue is not essential one. The essential one is the U.S. policy — whether it try to attack us or not. That is the problem, but not the bilateral or multilateral one. We do not care about the formality."

The North Korean diplomat was also very pessimistic when asked whether his government would engage in talks if the United States showed a more positive attitude.

"We do not expect any further positive measures from the U.S. side," Han told APTN. "We have seen already, fully, and we made already decision."

Vinnie, all reports so far indicate that the US is not considering anything remotely close to war with NK - what makes you think there is a 90% chance?

my previous post says nothing in regards to kerry losing. I'm way past that. My point being that Bush will go to war first, then ask questions, Iraq is a perfect example. Now, time only tells when we start with N. korea

ya Vinnie, besides, N Korea has nukes..why should we worry about a little thing like NUKES when there is an evil dictator that needed to be taken care of!! Of course, that was after we couldnt use the WMD story....but then again, if N. Korea has Nukes, and we already bombed the shit out of IRAQ for having WMDs, I guess we will go to war with N Korea next..

yes, but my main point is this; N Korea isnt some crappy country with scattered armed enemies. Korea has a huge well trained army with the weapons to back their play. If we go into their with this dubya type ego, we will lose and us here in america will suffer. this is something we should worry about more than iraq.

Vinnie how did you arrive at the 90% figure? Why is it not 91% or 89%?

I don't think I'd put a lot of stock in the statements of the UN Ambassador from N. Korea for goodness sakes. But I do forget, the left (and CNN) were taking Baghdad Bob and Sadaam's blather seriously for 12 yearsm even while tanks were rolling behind them.

And come to think of it Uncle Stalin's blather about a communist utiopia, mao's communist utopie and castro's utopia as well. Just can't trust those folks with security issues.

N. Korea is a fruitcake, they've been offered guarantees of secuirty by all of the 6-party nations, they're just a bunch of nuts playing chicken. A chicken with a damn-big stick mind you, but still a bunch of nuts.

Vinnie are you eason jordan by chance??

I think North Korea is an important and growing threat in the world but nothing has been mentioned about war. Only that the US refuses to talk to North Korea alone. I dont know how I feel about that, but it isnt war

and no president would take on Korea now. We've lost 1,200 in Iraq and had 11,000 wounded over there. The US just wouldnt stand for another war of attrition against a hidden enemy.

Special forces troops are investigating Iran. If we are going anywhere its Iran and/or Syria.

I shoudnt pull number out of the air, but I will. The odds that the US goes to war with Korea are about 3-5%....not statistically impossible, but really, really unlikely and there is no evidence to support the idea that a war is likely there.

Great nice, crude (as usual) "comment".

So comparing you to eason jordan is the same as comparing you to the person who keeps porn stars hard. Classy,classy...

They can't help it. They are in denial and they are stinging so badly from the ass kicking that Bush gave their boy sKerry that they can do nothing more than manufacture whines and then piss down their own legs. I pretty much expect four years of it from reeds and vinnie puss. And then an additional eight years after that.

Four years of Bush's History proves something? That is hardly enough history to tell if anything is going to happen. If history repeated itself every four years we'd be in a world of trouble.
