GDT: game 7 - Mavs (2-4) at Rockets (2-2) 7:00 FSSW
B2B
Probably no KP, Doncic
Rockets should just forfeit to avoid embarrassment

If I am RC, I play Green a bunch tonight. Maybe Hinton some as well. So many times last night, it seemed THJ clanking a shot on one end, and then getting beat for a bucket on defense. This is not the THJ of last year.

Can we have you coach for tonight?
I love Rick, but his inability to trust Green is killing me.

Might as well have just traded the damn pick if they aren't going to use him at all. Green is raw, but he is probably already the second or third best defender on the team. If he can't get a single minute without Luka or KP, then he is never going to play this season outside of garbage minutes.
When the Mavs lose, the Rick deficiencies are glaring.

Green might be the best defender on the team, already. Our guys looked tired in 4th Q last night. If Green had played most of THJ's minutes last night, he would have slowed down Lavine, and we would have won. RC talks about defensive attitude. But, clearly, the best way to play better defense is to play more talented defensive players more. (e.g. Green, JJ, WCS).
I would start Green in place of THJ, along with WCS (instead of Powell). Have Green shut down/defend Harden. He can do it. Put JRich on Houston's 2nd best scorer. Also, I would allow Hinton to get Burke's minutes. Let THJ come off the bench to play with 2nd unit. Try this for a game or two. So, the starting 5 for me would be:
WCS, JJ, Green, JRich, Luka. RC - give this a try. It is the way.

I have yet to see anyone shut down Harden aside from...Harden

Agreed. The thing that I think some people, perhaps including Rick, are not adequately taking into consideration is that, with the short pre-season, players are not in such great physical conditioning, which could be partly contributory to some of our shooting woes. Spread the load around a bit so that when THJ, DFS, and JRich are on the floor, they are more fresh and have more of their legs under them when they shoot.

Dort is a top defender IMO. You could probably also find a few more guys that have had some success vs Harden, but he is one of those handful of guys that you can only realistically hope to slow down. Unless of course he takes wild ass shots.

Would love to see Rick give Hinton a look. Brings an enormous amount of energy and passion which is something this team could use.

Agreed. Hinton's ability to to scrap and rebound is amazing. In contrast to what our players did against Houston. He and Green should play

This is a crazy concept, but hear me out.
Long defense, grabbing rebounds lead to fast breaks opportunities!

Any questions now about who the problem was in the starting lineups lol
Thank you Rick for finally going big for once it helps our defense and rebounding to start off games.

I love how I feel like I am honestly better than Luka in 1 aspect of the game... shooting 3's. Thanks Luka for that. He's so damned good in every other area of the game.

Other than Luka and Bobi...do the Mavs have anyone that can finish around the rim without getting blocked or turning the ball over? Richardson maybe? Can you win in the playoffs without someone you can trust to get a bucket in the paint?

Please tell me WCS is not starting only because this is a back-to-back situation and Dwight Powell is still coming back from an injury. I want this to be the NEW starting lineup until KP returns. Also as much as I love KP I hope he can ease his way back into the starting lineup. He doesn't need to start his first game back.
