The thick one is the slider, they have one that doesn't have the slide out keyboard that is thinner. Personally I don't mind the thickness. That is one truly awesome thing about the iPhone is how freaking thin it is. I do wear it on a belt clip, or in my coat pocket. I have had zero bugs. This phone is one of the options from my work, and it's the model that has the fewest problems for our users. So maybe we have just been real lucky.

Did you read that crap? Invite only? It is on the T-Mobile 3G band though....... so if it's used on AT&T, it's an EDGE only phone.

Love my iphone but I have to agree on itunes. I have about 50 gigs of music on my computer and it's much easier to manage using Windows Media Player. WMP automatically goes out and grabs every big of media on my internal and external hard drives. Unfortunately I can't get it to sync with phone so whenever I want to add a cd that I've downloaded I have to go into itunes and use the add folder option like Thig said.
I do like the fact that itunes has added the album cover view but unlike WMP you can't easily paste a new conver over the one that itunes assigns. Also you can't combine albums by simpley dragging and dropping like you can using WMP.

does nexus have a physical keyboard slide-out?
The Droid seems pretty cool because it has a physical keyboard (that is the #1 complaint about iphone from my friends/coworkers - no physical keyboard), and is actually still really thin.

No, it's an on screen keyboard.

My iPhone and I celebrated our one year anniversary last week, and while I still find the idea of owning a Mac computer completely disgusting, I like their phones. I don't know how I lived without the stupid thing.
And maybe it's because I don't go for runs when it's 47 degrees outside, but I haven't opened iTunes in I can't tell you how long (august? september?). I think I'm a few software updates behind.
Great phone though, for what I want. Which is browsing the internet anywhere and everywhere, any time, quickly.

well, my wife surprised me with an iPod Touch for Christmas. And man, that thing is sweet. The apps are amazing, the internet browser is lightning fast. Damn sweet!
My wife regretted her decision a few hours later as my head was still buried in the thing.

in case anybody is interested...there is an app called Police Radio Pro..its $1.99 and it is an app that monitors the police and fire channels....its pretty awesome. I was up last night listening to this huge fight at a bar up where i live...on new years eve..it was cool...i heard the dispatcher tell six units where to go..and then literally like 10 seconds later 6 cop cars flew by my apartment complex with full lights and sirens..it was awesome...
check it out..i think this app was featured in maxim too..

yes you can. I've used it already. Skype on an ipod touch makes a home phone unnecessary!

well yes, of course. But home phones have been cheaper than cell plans lately. Let me rephrase that you could use your ipod touch and skype for all in-house calling, and save minutes on your cell plan. Skype is pretty durn cheap.
i think there is an app called fring that can somehow get you completely free IP calls. Haven't tried it though.

I love my iPhone. The only way it could be better, especially when traveling, is if it came with some sort of vagina app.

I don't think "there's an app for that."
Maybe there's some kind of...err...."peripheral"?

That's a tough thing. I don't have a case on mine and I've dropped it at least 6 or 7 times, once in a puddle during a rain storm. Not saying that to make you feel bad just to say that those phones are pretty solid. Must have been the angle.

yeah I've dropped it many times and nothing has ever happened. It landed flat on its back and the pressure just cracked the screen all over.

Apple sells 300,000 iPads? Why?
I don't get it. From what I've seen, it hardly does anything my iPhone doesn't do. So what the hell do I need a humongous iPhone for? If you're going to get something that large, aren't you gonna get something that can perform more than one task at a time?

that's the biggest complaint i have. It looks like it is competing with multiple things (e-reader, netbook, media player), but doesn't do one thing very well. well, it is probably best as a media player. But then only for videos. Why would you carry around something that big for music?
but it uses a backlit screen, so reading on the thing is going to kill your eyes after a while, so not as good as, say, a Kindle. As for the netbook comparisons, it doesn't have a physical keyboard, you can't install just any program on it (gotta use apps), and you can't run multiple things at once.
but how did it sell 300,000? because of this:

And it has no standard ports, like USB.
It's dumb. Even the most pro-Apple tech blogs have conceded that as spiffy as it is in some ways, it is nothing but a luxury item. Not even close to a notebook (or even netbook) replacement.
I will say that I would be just fine using it as an ebook reader. The whole back lit thing is silly imo. I read off a computer screen all day long. And their ebook app is apparently very, very well done.
So if I wanted an ebook that also doubled as a media player, maybe I could see the argument. But that's awfully niche.

i don't know, man... Doing work on a PC, answering e-mail, surfing the Net, etc. is totally different than reading a book. Working on a PC already is known to cause eye strain. I work in front on a computer all day, and i need to take breaks to help with eye strain. No way would i read books off the thing.
That eInk technology in the standard eReaders really does help. I have read some books on my sister-in-law's Kindle and it really is just like reading a book. My eyes didn't feel strained at all.
I agree that the iBooks app is slick as far as the buying/choosing books.
now this magazine stuff looks cool on the iPad:

I'm the same way. If i read, i like it to be a real book. But being able to store your entire library on a Kindle is pretty sweet.
But it's not like i am always re-reading books or excerpts of books, where having my entire library would be a benefit.

I like technology in all aspects of life. I don't read enough to justify paying that kind of money, but you give me the option having everything digital, I'm in, no matter what.
I already consume a decent amount of my books via audio book anyway, so it's a moot point.
As far as eye strain, I've never read off a Kindle or anything else with e-ink; all I know is I don't get eye strain (my eyes already suck anyway) and I've never once thought I needed some other form of technology to aid reading off a screen. So that would be a complete non factor in deciding what kind of device to buy to read e-books off of.
