Camby may not play again this season

NEW YORK -- New York Knicks center Marcus Camby may not suit up again this season due to a troublesome and painful hip injury.
Camby will have his torn hip muscle re-examined by team doctor Norman Scott on Monday and will undergo an MRI, the New York Post reported on Saturday.
Camby has already missed three weeks of action, and won't be back for at least another five weeks. The Knicks could be mathematically eliminated by the time he's ready to come back, so the team could decide to shut him down for the rest of the season.
It's also possible -- the Post reports -- that the Knicks gave an optimistic report on when Camby is scheduled to return in order to not scare off other teams in trade negotiations. Camby was on the trading block until the deadline passed on Thursday.
"I expect him to come back and I think he wants to come back, I think he will come back," Knicks head coach Don Chaney told the Post. "In terms of when, I have no idea."
Also, Camby is seeking a second opinion. Camby will also see another orthopedist -- Dr. David Altchek -- on Tuesday, the Post reported.
According to the report, Camby believes that the Knicks do not necessarily have his best interests in mind, because he was on the trading block. The Knicks could still decide to trade Camby after the season.
