Because the trade for Butler, Stephenson and Haywood back in 2010 helped to win the Mavs a title in 2011.

Josh Howard ended up getting hurt in Washington and never truly played again.

They also made a trade for Nick Van Exel and Raef LaFrentz which ended up helping them to get the WCF

Also the trade of Eric Dampier for Tyson Chandler.

And Jerry Stackhouse for Shawn Marion trade.
