Successful Scenario
Due to Dallas, New York, and Philadelphia being over the cap,
the 25% trade rule is invoked. Dallas, New York, and
Philadelphia had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the
salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did
happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the
Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Trade ID
Every trade made by fans is allocated a unique Trade ID
which you can share with friends and fellow basketball
fans to allow them to see your trade scenario. The Trade
ID for this scenario is 2504132.
Why Dallas does it: this is a move to free cap space. Dallas gets two expiring contracts while not giving up any of the cornerstones of the franchise
Why philly does it: believe it or not there is a contact out there worse than fins, hes captin timeout c-webb. they have to take back fin but its 10 mil less over the contract and they get KVH expiring deal. Dallas might have to throw in a 1st but its worth it.
Why NY does it. Thay get c-webb who zeke loves, Mckie who Brown loves and a young stud in andre.

RE: a trade that could work dal/ny/phi
We give up Finley and a talented, max-money expiring guy for Penny and Tim Thomas?
That is ridiculous. And if I heard right, we cannot use the amnesty on players that we acquired through trade. So we would do nothing for our luxury tax, while reducing our talent at both the 2 and 4, while still not getting below the cap.

RE:a trade that could work dal/ny/phi
philly would love to dump mckie and webbers contract and a pick from dallas would ease the pain from andre leaving

RE: a trade that could work dal/ny/phi
It doesn't make sense...they get rid of a power forward with a bad contract to pick up a shooting guard with a bad contract. They'd like to get rid of McKie but not at the expense of Igudola...he's not going anywhere...they love him. The fact that they just committed $60MM to Dalembert shows you that they're willing to spend to keep their young core intact.

RE:a trade that could work dal/ny/phi
Thats true but remember c webb asked for a trade at the end of the year and philly knows that fin can exist with a superstar. and they did just spend 60 on dalembert plus korver and willie green I could see them looking for some wiggle room.

They'll waive Webber if anything. I wouldn't even include NY in this deal. Finley+KVH+a pick for Webber+McKie+AI2 would be a great trade for use. Backup at the PF, a good young, defensive minded SG. We'd have our starting lineup set for years to come.

Whoa!!
Am I missing something here? The whole point of waiving Finley is for Cuban to save money on the LT. If Cuban doesn't want Fin at 3yrs/$52 million, why would he want Webber at 3yrs/$62 million?
Not only that you give up KVH's expiring contract ($15,694,250) and gaining nearly $4 million on Mckie's contract (3yrs/$19,500,000).
Iguodala is not enough for all that.

C-Webb clashed with Jim O'Brien...and apparently he wasn't the only one.

RE:a trade that could work dal/ny/phi
the reason for including ny is for cap room within a year. the whole purpose of the trade is to get something for fin. You can only expect two things for fin 1. a return of talent 2. cap space The truth is we will not get return talent on finley because no one wants that contract. All we need to worry about is cap space. They either make a deal liek this to get expiring contracts or let finley walk and we as fans don't gain anything, only cuban gets an extra 51 mil.

I'd like to get something for Fin too, but it's got to work and there has to be some genuine interest from a team that has some pieces. Personally if it's gonna happen it'll be Portland who really needs a player who can lead by example.

that is the worst trade in the history of sports....hardaway and thomas suck and are both way too overpaid. hardaway is 10 years past his prime and thomas is nothing but a busted young player who had a lot of potential.

That is a dream trade right there. Webber would instantly be our best passer and is a serious, serious upgrade from Keith Van Horn. He played in 67 games last season, more than Finley or Van Horn did. McKie, blah, he is just filler.
And then you have Andre Igudola. I could get really, really used to Iggy and Josh at the SG/SF spot for the next, say, ten years. If Devin Harris becomes the defensive pest that he is expected to be, there won't be a better 1/2/3 defensively in the NBA over the next decade than Devin Harris, Andre Iguodala, and Josh Howard.
The Mavericks could go with a rotation of Jet, Iggy, Josh, Dirk, Damp, Webber, Stack, DH, and Quis. Add a 10th man big (or just play DJ since Webber will take alot of the backup C minutes) and you have a hell of a playoff rotation. The Sixers were 26-29 before they acquired Webber, 16-11 after they acquired him. He put up 19 ppg in the playoffs against The Wallaces, was 20/9/5 for the season, and 21/10/6 on 45% shooting with the Kings before he got put with the ball dominating Iverson who turned Webber into nothing more than a last seconds of the shot clock dumpoff 18 foot jump shooter.
Yeah, I would love that deal.

Trade possibilities exist, but the returns would be marginal. New York appears to have legitimate interest as Isiah Thomas and Larry Brown begin remaking the Knicks. It's possible they would explore swapping Anfernee Hardaway or Tim Thomas for Finley.
Hardaway ($15.75 million) and Thomas ($13.975 million) have contracts that expire this season and both would match Finley's salary this season ($15.938 million) in trade scenarios.
