My first thought when I read Rick's quote was that Rick was playing mind games with the Lakers. Not sure, though... what would be worse for the Lakers, saying that Butler is coming back (when he isn't) and force them to waste time game planning for him or bring him back unexpectedly after saying he's definitely not playing this series? In the end, the answer is probably, "It doesn't matter, it will be a tough series regardless."

I hope RC is using some mind games to play with LA and surprise everyone with Caron coming into the series.
One can dream, right?

as much as I love Butler's passion this could be a good thing you dont know how well he would play not being in a live game for so long

If he does come back, I hope he gets eased back in very slowly. I'm a little afraid of messing up a good thing at this point.

I thaught he might've been overstating Caron NOT playing in the series just so Phil wouldn't prepare, but with The Mavs best mathcup nightmare for the lakers being:
Barea
Terry
Peja
Dirk
Haywood/Chandler
That lineup running the 35 foot pick and roll with Dirk and Barea is an absolute nightmare for the Lakers.
With all that said, I think they'll continue etting Caron participate in full contact practices like the doctors cleared him for a week or so ago, and maybe hope he's back to 95% or so, if and when they need him to play minutes on Lebron in the finals. God willing the Mavericks can continue to execute and rebound.

What the hell do the Heat have to do with anything?
I would disagree and raise a few questions your way... But unless that happens.... we shall keep all those questions buried.

People who are talking about anything beyond game three should be shot in the head Osama style.

Butler gives us an additional athletic wing to use as we go forward. Hopefully he's on the way back.

I would guess Finals at the earliest, he needs to be cleared for contact first

Nope. He started doing some light dunking last week and some conflicting reports came out about his availability ("back in time for LA?"), but the official word came down that he still hadn't been cleared for contact and probably wouldn't be in game shape until the WCF at the earliest.

It's pretty quiet considering that EKS announced quite some time ago that Caron would be able to participate in contact practises. That must have been almost two weeks ago.
Edit: Hadn't seen Underdog's post before I posted myself. So EKS's info wasn't perfectly accurate...

Donnie says it would be "next to impossible" for Caron to return anytime in the playoffs.
