BaD Radio reporting a "rumor" from TV Timm that Turgeon to be traded for 2 second round draft picks. Also that Stars are pursuing Federov.

I hope one or both are true.

I've taken just a cursory look around & so far there is very little credence to either of those rumors.

The Turgeon thing would be Turgeon to NJ for 2 second-round picks. Remember, he's got a NTC & if we manage to dump him, we will still most likely be picking up a big chunk of his huge salary.

The reasons the Federov thing is unlikely are b/c he is commanding $10mil & we don't particularly have a need for a player like him. Army has already said that we are just about done as far as FAs go.

Having said that, I am crossing every appendage I have that we get rid of Turgeon. No one thought Colorado could land Kariya & Selanne either & look what happened there. Maybe Federov will take a 1-yr deal?

Sergei Fedorov signed a five-year, $40 million contract with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks on Saturday, leaving the Detroit Red Wings
after 13 seasons and three NHL titles. The free-agent center had 36 goals and 47 assists for a team-leading 83 points last season with Detroit. The addition of Fedorov will make up for the loss of star center Paul Kariya, who left to sign as a free agent with Colorado.

He took less money but I think it may be partly to save face & not go back on his word that he would no return to Detroit. It would have been a nice little luxury to have him but we knew it was a long shot. And I'd rather him be just about anywhere by Detroit or Colorado.
