Default Pacer Trade

We turn TAW into Croshere. Nellie might get something out of Croshere. Walker gives us Harrington and Pollard. Best brings Tinsley. Tinsley likes to pass first, then shoot. Can penetrate and is taller than Best. Harrington likes to play on the baseline. Pollard just aggravates the heck out of other centers (at least he used to, hope he still can). We get younger and bigger.

Bradley/Pollard/Fortson (or Croshere if Bradley's back gets worse)
Dirk/Harrington/Croshere (or Fortson)
Jamison/Harrington/Howard
Fin/Howard/Daniels
Nash/Tinsley/Delk

Dallas trades: PG Travis Best (3.2 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 1.9 apg in 13.1 minutes)
PG Tariq Abdul-Wahad (3.2 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 1.9 apg in 13.1 minutes)
PF Antoine Walker (17.1 ppg, 9.4 rpg, 5.1 apg in 37.9 minutes)
Dallas receives: PF Al Harrington (12.9 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 2.0 apg in 30.6 minutes)
PF Austin Croshere (5.2 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 0.4 apg in 12.6 minutes)
C Scot Pollard (1.4 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 0.2 apg in 10.7 minutes)
PG Jamaal Tinsley (6.7 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 4.2 apg in 22.1 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +5.9 ppg, +4.1 rpg, and -0.2 apg.

Indiana trades: PF Al Harrington (12.9 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 2.0 apg in 30.6 minutes)
PF Austin Croshere (5.2 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 0.4 apg in 12.6 minutes)
C Scot Pollard (1.4 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 0.2 apg in 10.7 minutes)
PG Jamaal Tinsley (6.7 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 4.2 apg in 22.1 minutes)
Indiana receives: PG Travis Best (3.2 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 1.9 apg in 29 games)
PG Tariq Abdul-Wahad (3.2 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 1.9 apg in 29 games)
PF Antoine Walker (17.1 ppg, 9.4 rpg, 5.1 apg in 34 games)
Change in team outlook: -5.9 ppg, -4.1 rpg, and +0.2 apg.

I like all those guys you mentioned as good role players.

The biggest problem I see is that someone would have to go on the IL for us, which isn't a problem if these injuries are going to linger all season for some of our guys. But I would hate to put someone like Daniels on the IL.

As for the trade itself, I love Harrington. That kid is tough. Pollard is a solid guy in a center rotation. Tinsley is a kid I really like, despite some of his faults, and Croshere seems like a Nellie kind of player.

We would sure be deep...almost too deep, if everyone was healthy.

I'd do this trade. Indiana might do it if Bird is in love with Walker's game as much as is reported. We lose a bad contract (TAW), a bust (Best), and Walker for 4 roleplayers. We meet our needs for a big man and a backup PG. On paper it might look like we're losing since we're giving up the biggest talent, but I think that we need this type of trade to get the right balance of players.

I am setting this one up for another trade which will clear some of the roster, but I think it gives us solid role players in positions we need.

You could step on Croshere's toe if Bradley is OK and IL him just like we did TAW. Daniels may need to on IL anyway to keep from showcasing him too much for another team next year if both Delk and Howard are healthy and get back to form.

Besides, I think Tinsley gives us solid backup PG for sometime.

we cant do it without clearing a space on our roster. We are at 15 right now after the signing of Mamadou

You think they are so high on N'Diaye that they wouldn't waive him to do a trade that gets 4 solid role players, including the upside of Harrington?

I know that management (pre Larry Bird) was in love with Harrington, and wasn't listening to any offers for him. However, now he seems like he could be easier to get, because Larry is in love with a different player. He loved him as a coach, and I'm sure he still loves him now. That player is Austin Croshere. Therefore, I don't think we would be able to get both of them.

Though it might not work under the cap, I would still offer the Best, TAW, and Walker combo for just Harrington, Pollard and Tinsley.

in a freakin' heartbeat.
