Django had it's moments. I enjoyed it, but I'm unlikely to see it again. Foxx was great.. DiCaprio was great... but the movie wasn't great. I'd definitely recommend seeing it, but it's not in the same class as Lincoln. There was just something missing from Django for me. I don't know what it was, but something wasn't there..something to keep me from thinking the movie was great. Of course, I suppose that something could have been that the movie was just too long. I have no issues with long movies.. But 20-30 minutes could have easily been shaved off of this movie. Again, I have no problem with a long movie if it keeps me engaged. I can sit and watch Lonesome Dove in one sitting.. Not enough of the fat was trimmed off of Django I suppose.

Lincoln.. I'd probably classify this as a great movie mostly due to the tremendous acting. Definitely a step above Django

Silver Linings Playbook.. again, tremendous acting. I enjoyed this movie more than Django for sure. There's nothing epic about it..just a solid, quirky movie..

Zero Dark Thirty .. I may see this tonight.

Bernie was screwed over.. Jack Black should have received more recognition for this role. I'm not really a Jack Black fan, but he was tremendous. Check it out on Netflix..

Saw Silver Linings two nights ago... maybe it's because I have two kids and haven't been to a movie in a while, but I think it was one of the 2 or 3 best movies of the year. If anybody cares, here are my 10 favorites from 2012/early-2013 releases:
  1. 21 Jump Street
  2. Dredd
  3. Silver Linings Playbook
  4. Magic Mike
  5. Argo
  6. The Avengers
  7. The Dark Knight Rises
  8. Ted
  9. Taken 2
  10. The Expendables 2

21 Jump Street far exceeded expectations. Argo was very, very good..much better than Django. The Avengers was pretty awesome.. final batman movie was quite enjoyable as well.

DJango is probably the best movie I've seen since No Country... Thoroughly entertained for 2 hours 46 minutes. Watching ZDT tonight...

I definitely enjoyed Django more than Inglorious Basterds. I liked Basterds to an extent, but it was verrrrry talky for a war movie. I thought Django had a better balance of action versus the Tarrantino dialogue. Django's soundtrack was pretty much perfection like most of his soundtracks. Anyone who doesn't like Ennio Morricone, Luis Bacalov, or Riz Ortolani is deaf.

Damn it, I forgot about Jack Reacher. My revised top 10 (after a couple of days to reflect on Silver Linings):
  1. 21 Jump Street
  2. Dredd
  3. Jack Reacher
  4. The Silver Linings Playbook
  5. Magic Mike
  6. The Avengers
  7. Argo
  8. The Dark Knight Rises
  9. Ted
  10. The Expendables 2

Not sure if anyone else saw Reacher this year, but it definitely far exceeded my expectations. Just a great beat-em-up action movie. Tom Cruise -- again -- does all of his own stunts.
