James Gandolfini dead.
As successful as "The Sopranos" was, I've always felt he was an underrated actor. There are several movies I can think of that were otherwise mediocre, but are worth watching just for wonderful performances by Gandolfini: The Mexican, The Last Castle, 8mm. Even when at times when I felt the Soprano's writing was starting to wane, Gandolfini's performance alone kept me watching. Sad day indeed.

I'm still waiting to watch The Sopranos. I've never had the opportunity. Only 51 years old. Sad.

Sad, but not surprising... Tony Soprano got fatter as he rose through the mob ranks, and Gandolfini dedicated his body to that aspect of the story. Not that he was ever a small guy to begin with, but he slowly became his character and it consumed him to the point where it just became who he was. It's a tragedy that he died at the not-so-ripe age of 51 though.
Great actor, he'll be missed.
