As old as this bit is, people are still posting in the offseason thread....
I am fine with a training camp thread though! (Sorry Murph!) lol

Rave reviews about Ajinca, or is it just talk to drive up his market value. Sounds like hes a face the basket big offensively, good jumper 15 on out. Backup Power forward? Or does RC's reliance on dependable low end backup outweigh the unknown youngsters, here we are again.

Can we get a mod to roll this into an Official Thread thread?

One thread for the entire season? I think
not.

PG plans might not include Roddy Beaubois
By Tim MacMahon
UNIVERSITY PARK, Texas -- The Mavericks want to cut Jason Kidd’s minutes, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that fan favorite Rodrigue Beaubois will run the offense on a regular basis.
Coach Rick Carlisle was noncommittal when asked how Beaubois’ playing time would be balanced between point guard and shooting guard. But Carlisle strongly hinted that Beaubois’ playing time at point guard would be sporadic at best.
“He might not play much 1,” Carlisle said. “We’ll see. He might play a lot. I don’t know.”
Beaubois was supposed to spend the summer working on his leadership skills and court awareness so that he could be counted on to spell Kidd. But Beaubois struggled as a point guard during the Las Vegas Summer League and broke his foot before the French national team started tournament play.
That was at least a speed bump in Beaubois’ development as a point guard.
The Mavs know Beaubois can make an impact as a shooting guard. He did it in bursts as a rookie, displaying dynamic scoring ability and earning an increase role entering his second season. It might be in the best interests of Beaubois and the Mavs to let him focus on his best position during his first season as a regular member of the rotation.
“This kid has only played organized basketball since he was 17,” Carlisle said, “so let’s give him credit for making a lot of progress to this point, but let’s not put the weight of the world on his shoulders like he’s the guy that has to take this team to the next level.”
We’ll do our part by lowering expectations for Roddy B in his second season. We expect him to be spectacular at only one position instead of two.

RC lowers expectations because he doesn't seem to possess the ability to develop younger players. He is not really lowering them for Roddy but for himself as a coach. Lowered expectations usually end up with lowered results.

Idk, I think his problem is getting them in the games and learning as they go. The problem I had with him is the minutes for the young guys. At some point they have to learn it and hold themselves accountable, but to do that he has to play them. He is just trying to slow down the "Roddy is the 2nd option, starting PG, right answer at SG, carry us to a championship" hopes.

Amazing that people jump right in and start talking about topics in this thread.
Good Lord, people. Start a thread about early comments on Roddy's role. Something. Anything.

Herd mentality - if you start a line, people will get in it, regardless of whether or not they know what the line is for...

Yea, I think Carlisle can't stand rookie mistakes, but he will get a sick Jason Kidd in the playoffs. When youi're tired your immune is down, does playing Kidd 32 guarantee he's not sick in the playoffs, no, but chances are better that he doesn't get sick. You have to trust your players, mistakes will happen, Tony Parker, Rajon Rondo are some of the stars who learned on the big stage. This team will win 55 games no matter what, getting Roddy PT will get you another round in the playoffs. You learn from mistakes, you only get so much from soneone in your ear, you have to go out and learn those mistakes. A mistake here or there, will not cost you a game, with the vets we surround them with. Would you run Dojo and Roddy out there at the same time? Not likely, but staggering their minutes with Kidd/Jet would do wonders for us and them in the playoffs. Carlisle doesn't see it and guess won't get it. Still going with the idea of no roles, and the players playing best will fill roles we need, game to game. This is not what a vet team needs, you look at the Lakers-Celtics they both have youngsters filling roles.

Right now the Mavs section has 14,797 threads... so with this really efficient thread that means that by the end of the regular season we will only have 14879 threads.... unless we just create an officially official 2010-2011 Season GDT.

I find this thread to be entirely unacceptable because the original post does not contain any analysis.

Oh, he sees it and gets it. But I think some of it has to do with RC needed to establish some sort of job security too and heavy minutes for rookies with this kind of veteran roster in most cases isn't the way to guarantee that. I think it has turned around now tho, Coach knows what Cuban wants from him and what the team needs so I look for him to have a longer leash on the young guys this year..unless they are struggling consistently.
Dojo will struggle some with his shot most likely but I think his redemption factors(driving, penetration etc) will always be bigger than his early rookie mistakes and short comings shooting the ball imo.

Hell, why can't we just do all the GDT's in this thread? I mean, do we really need to go to all that trouble to actually make a 2010-2011 season GDT? That seems like way too much work.

I have a question about the TV Schedule. I have DISH Network and as of a few days ago the contract negotiations between DISH and FOX Sports SW collapsed. DISH has dropped Fox Sports SW from their lineup. Has anyone heard of any alternate viewing arrangements for the Mavs Games currently scheduled on FOX carried by DISH?

I think it would be more fitting if we moved this into the "Official Bitching" thread.

This is crazy. How am I suppose to get keep up with my Dallas-Mavs iphone apps news and my Dallas-Mavs Dallas Mavs news if they're in different places? Can we merge all the forums and threads into one big official everything thread?
Gracias.

I think this would be classified as "meta" discussion and thus should be moved to the
