"Was it your favorite shirt?"
"I don't have a favorite shirt."
"The white J. Press?"
"That's not my favorite shirt."
"The white J. Press isn't your favorite shirt?"
"No."
"What's your favorite shirt?"
"I don't have a favorite shirt."
"What shirt are you missing?"
"The white J. Press."
"Your favorite."
"Shut up."

What is spinning in the DVD player?
SportsNight - Episode 16: "Sally."

Speaking of DVD's.... the wife and I rented V for Vendetta this past weekend. I wasn't expecting anything good but I was pleasantly surprised.

Not Oscar worthy, but certainly rent worthy. It was a bit too political for my taste but I was able to wash that bad taste down with some awesome Coffee and continue enjoying the movie.

Silent Hill. Scary, senseless, a combination made in heaven. True to the games, I am immensely more confused about the movie after I finished watching it than I was when I began watching.

Do you remember which episode Danny recites some poem about the sea in one of the rundown meetings?

"Maybe it was Whitman."
"It wasn't Whitman."
"I'm saying it could be Whitman."
"It's not Walt Whitman."
'I'm saying it could be Stu Whitman."

I've been trying to find it -- see if the poem really exists and if I can get a full text if it does. I'm fairly certain it is in the early run of the season before Robert Guillemiere's (sp?) stroke. Usually they all left the Conference room, and asking a man with little use of the left side of his body to walk the full length of the set to go back to his office might have been a problem. How he ever survived on a show with walk-and-talks is beyond me.

I rented Coach Carter recently, and am probably going to watch it within the next couple days. I've already seen it once, and it is an AWESOME movie. Samuel L. Jackson is so good.

Thank You. For anyone wondering the quote is from John Masefield's 'Sea Fever.'

Sea Fever

I must go down to the seas again,
to the lonely sea and the sky,

And all I ask is a tall ship
and a star to steer her by,
And the wheel's kick and the wind's song
and the white sail's shaking,
And a grey mist on the sea's face
and a grey dawn breaking.

I must go down to the seas again,
for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call
that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a windy day
with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume,
and the sea-gulls crying.

I must go down to the seas again
to the vagrant gypsy life,
To the gull's way and the whale's way
where the wind's like a whetted knife;
And all I ask is a merry yarn
from a laughing fellow rover,
And quiet sleep and a sweet dream
when the long trick's over.

-- John Masefield

I watched Linklater's "Before Sunrise" today. An absolutely wonderful portrayal of modern romance. The listening room scene is perfect.

Well, I just had to watch the sequel, didn't I? 2004's "Before Sunset" is a continuation of the story of Jesse and Celine. When Jesse is in Paris on a book tour, he runs into Celine for the first time in 9 years. What follows is ruminations on life, politics, religion, fate, and of course, love.

Both of these films consist of very little other than dialogue. If that's not your thing, well, you won't like these films. I personally found both to be outstanding, and the ending to "Sunset" was sublime. I think I'm officially in love with Julie Delpy.

When a Stranger Calls

After it went off, i didn't think it was that good. But after listening to the director in the features, i understood what he was trying to do. I'd say it's worth seeing, but not action-packed.

i watched when a stranger calls a while back. ITs not action packed either but cry wolf is a better movie in the same vane. When a stranger calls was way to close to scream for my taste though i actually did like scream despite the horrible acting.

BTW speaking of acting, why did everyone give so much credit to jamie foxx for purely doing an impersonation of Ray Charles while everyone criticized will smith for doing an impersonation of Ali?

5-0, Cry_wolf was better b/c even though it wasn't that much action, it's plot allowed for a better story.

Um....he wasn't. He was nominated for Best Actor for his performance, and was considered one of the favorites to win. (Denzel Washington won for Training Day that year.)

i remember hearing alot of praise for voight but hardly any for smith and the reason generally given was that he did an impersonation as opposed to an interpretation. I wasnt trying to downgrade foxx in anyway, he was great in that movie and along with the music, the only reason that filmd was watchable i was just mentioning that smith did as good of a job in ALI

Snatch is a classic. I like the fact there is a special subtitle mode for Brad Pitt's character only. I had to use it, as I don't speak Pikey or whatever it is he speaks.

one of pitt's best roles, IMO. he's great when he's not playing the heartthrob (Seven, 12 monkeys, snatch, fight club, etc.)

Oh, ya, I came to respect him after seeing Fight Club, and then when I saw Snatch, he was great in it as well and now I actually like watching him. I also like him on both Ocean's Eleven and Twelve.

"Infernal Affairs"

This movie is going to get a lot more attention now that Scorsese is remaking it for the U.S. It's an awesome gangster film, starring one of my favorite actors, Tony Leung. It's the story of two moles, one who has infiltrated the police force, the other the head drug cartel. It has a couple of cheesy emotional flourishes that are found in most Asian films, but the concept and execution of the main story more than make up for it. Check it out.

The Departed looks like it's going to be good.

Saw the Aviator. Nice movie, but imo, not worthy of an Oscar.

Go rent Kalifornia and you will see vintage Brad Pitt. In fact, you will see vintage white trash. It is a classic in the likes of Gone With the Wind.

The Descent..... :P Yes, I've been naughty. Didn't like it a whole lot. Maybe a rental.

Pitt has become one of my favorite actors. He's good. He chooses good roles. I can't remember the last movie of his that I didn't enjoy.

I saw Napolean Dynamite for the FIRST time if you can believe that, and it was pretty funny.

I'm prolly gonna watch Fever Pitch this weekend.

Napolean Dynamite, the most quotable movie of my lifetime. Greatness.

Last DVD I watched was Inside Man, pretty good.

About to roll through Season 2 of Lost, to get myself ready for next month.
