That's so, in the off chance the Heat make the Finals again, the media can cry over the pain he went through this season and will he be able to tough it out again in this years Finals.

Lets put it a different way...
what would you rather have:
a) Devin Harris, Stackhouse, Croshere, draft pick
b) AI
c) Sebastian Telfair, Al Jefferson, (insert name of any Celtic not named Paul Pierce here)
d) Josh Smith, Marvin Williams, (insert name of any Hawk not named Joe Johnson here)
I'm going to be honest, I like b, c, AND d way more than a. Thats just me though... and I know it would be pretty dastardly to ship him back out east when the sixers in all probaility would only trade to us and not the hawks and celtics themselves for the sole purpose of keeping him out of the east... but hey we gotta look out for #1 and thats a sweet deal for us!
Harris is a great young talent, but if we trade for AI we could either keep the veteran all-star or trade him to a team for MORE younger talent than we already have. What the hell is Cuban thinking? We win either way! There is NO gamble in taking AI. Oh and we get rid of Cro-suck and Brickhouse. Am I missing anything?

Hmm, with C and D, there is the fact that those are conference teams. I imagine the Sixers wanna land him in the west, if possible.

Don't get your hopes up, expect Cubes to sell the team in the next 3 years unless Stern has a massive heart attack and dies... Stern crushed Cuban's competitive spirit, I think Cubes is in it to have a good team and if we win it we win it. I seriously question whether or not Cubes is willing to put his heart on the line and recklessly go for a championship like he did with last year's team to get it stomped on in Finals Game 3 through 5. I think his heart and passion is elsewhere...

Well personally I would love AI here as I have said and i think it mite be a long shot. Reportedly AI said NO to Bobcats, Sacramento, and Golden State. He has not ruled Dallas out (at least not in the media) and I am sure it must have been brought up. But Minn. and Boston seem like the places he wants to go.

has anyone else noticed that alot of people say that Minny is all trash but garnett and then arent willing to trade that trash for AI? They say if they will do that then it would be garnett ai and trash but since they already say its garnett and trash why wouldnt you make that deal? Could it be that garnett has more talent around him than most think but they dont win because hes not quite the all time great hes made out to be?

Isn't Minny's reason for not making this deal more financial (i.e. they don't want two guys that they are paying close to 40 million total for)?

The more I think about it...
The more I think it would be a GOOD deal.
No matter what it's a gamble...trade or no trade. If you trade and he bombs your will get run out of town...it don't trade and he wins a title you will get run out of town.
If you don't trade and he turns into the NBA version of T.O., you look good by doing nothing...however if you Trade for him and you win a title or two with him, you become a genius!!!
I see AI and I see the addition that the Mavs made when they grabbed Nick Van Excel...only a hell of a lot better. AI has Nick's attitude times 10!!!
Remember the "F-em" comment that lead to the Mavs getting to the Western Conference Finals.
Last year we had a bit of that as well as a real energy roll player/leader in D.A.
With AI we would get those missing ingredients that you simply can't measure in stats alone. You bring AI here, and we would have two potentially three players that can take over a game on their own. AI, Dirk and Howard (Howard is growing into that type of player, he just doesn't have the hype with him yet)
AI is a point guard who can score at will...and dish the ball at will.
Yes, letting go of Harris would be tough...but to take a shot like this for a title NOW!!! I would have to pull the trigger and see what happens.
Unless there is something in regards to relationship/chemistry issue that we in the public simply know nothing about.
Keep in mind that Avery Johnson is a leaders leader and he does not appear to be a coach who would have troubles with AI.
For what it's worth the Mavs would immidiately become the front runner in the WEST, Hands Down!!!
The only thing that could stop them would be the NBA and David Stern's officials...as they did last year!!! Not that I'm bitter or anything...(*&*&$#@)%$!!!!)* Referees.

Here is my thought about an A.I. trade:
"F-em" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We were a title team w/o him last year, and this year we are better.
I said it..... "F-em" !!!!!!!!
Lets ride our ship to the finals...

A perfectly acceptable Answer
By Jim O'Brien
ESPN.com
Answering a few questions about Allen Iverson, whom I coached for one year in 2004-05 with the Philadelphia 76ers . . .
What was his reaction when, in a team huddle, you called him the worst defensive point guard in the history of the game?
After that, he told me it was the first time he'd ever been called the worst in anything.
But he's not hypersensitive.
Not at all. The best part about Allen is that he had no problem being criticized in front of his teammates. You don't find that to be the case with superstars.
In fact, he encouraged you not to sit on any criticisms.
Yes. Another example was at halftime I got on him pretty hard about defense. Before we got back on court he said, "Listen, tell me to right then, don't wait till halftime."
I'm not saying we didn't have issues over 82 games, but generally the idea is to go behind closed doors and not to the media. He told me he wanted to be straightforward and when he thought I wasn't, he called me on it.
You coached Iverson when he was coming off a tough time with then-coach Chris Ford. You sat down with Iverson after a season in which his team had struggled. And you had traveled to Turkey to get to know him before the 2004 Olympics.
He said he didn't want me to manage him through the media -- that wasn't a problem because that's not how I coach. I told him that I wanted him to be a leader, that he would have to be a person who was going to be on time and be ready to lace 'em up.
And I told him I would never have him leave his legs on the practice floor. He had to stretch with the team and start practice with us, but leave it to me to take him out. I never had a problem with him about practicing.
His famous "practice" comments came in 2002. Can we talk about practice?
It's true he doesn't need practice to be a great player. But back then what he sometimes did not recognize is that for the team to play its best he needs to practice -- the group needs reps to gel defensively and offensively.
Makes sense. So, what's he like?
He's very, very likable to be around, fun to be around. His teammates really like him, although they're not always comfortable playing with him.
He's going to have new ones soon. Think he could be a "final piece" guy?
I think he's going to bring a tremendous amount to a team that is positioned to go deep in the playoffs.
And if they're not?
If he's on a team no better than the Sixers, then he's going to have to be the guy who dominates the ball and it will be a difficult situation.
The best fit for him?
A metro area like Boston fairly near the casinos. The best situation would be in the bigger markets. Minnesota is a smaller market, but it would be interesting to see him there.

I still don't understand why we are not even reported as being interested in AI.
In my opinion he is a fantastic player with an overhyped bad rap. I think this team could use his energy and his firey personality.

Exactly. And for those who like the pick & roll OR pick & pops with Dirk & Jet... just imagine the same with Dirk & AI now!

I wish they would hurry up and get it done. Wherever he goes. I'm sick of all this talk about a guy who's not even playing right now. They were supposed to have him moved Monday, the longer this takes the less intrested I'm getting.

Denver is offering the most, having three first rounders in this years draft would be ludacris to pass up on... then again, if Cubes is lying it's just a pleasant surprise to our team. Our deal isn't too bad either.

Actually with big expiring contracts like Stack and Croshere we should be at least included in more rumour involving possible three ways than we are now. Either Cubes really gave up the "let´s go for a good deal if it comes up" attitude - which might be a bad bad time - or something is in the works.
The more i think of it AI might be worth swallowing CWebb even. Fiinishing games with Terry, AI, Howard, Dirk, CWebb? Okay, that´s fantasy ball again ...

Waste of thread space. Cuban said through DMN he will not trade for AI. On the Dan Patrick show he said he talked with Donne and he said they didn't want him. Case Closed no AI on the Mavs.

I was just listening to the radio and caught part of Avery's weekly show with Norm.
"We like to practice....he wouldn't be a good fit here."
That's it. Cuban's comments can always be construed as "posturing", but Avery pretty much put the nails in the rumor coffin.
As far as the Mavs are concerned, this is a DEAD issue.

Yeah, but he also said the asking price for AI was too expensive. He didn't exactly dismiss the notion out of hand. The impression I got was that he was trying to justify their "lack of interest."

I'm still not going to count out Dallas getting AI until he is actually traded.

This quote sums up my position. "I would be delinquent in my responsibility if I wasn't interested in Allen Iverson," Pat Riley said.

and A.I. would fit so well into Riley's coaching philosophy. He practices his team sometimes 2 - 3 hours from what I have heard.

And Riley hasn't had those punishing practices in YEARS (since he made a comeback as a coach, in fact). There were a number of stories in the papers during the Finals talking about how much Riley had mellowed in regards to practice.

Cuban, AJ & Donnie gotta' be just plain dumb to not pursue AI at his prime. I doubt if another superstar who's at or near his prime may ever be available again during Dirk's prime years. Even if he is, we may not have the expiring contracts or players needed to pull the deal off. This may be the closest they may ever get again to landing a superstar who could team up with Dirk and get us a couple titles at least!

AI was on the market this summer and the Heat didn't make a run at him. Instead they chose to keep the team together. It's easy for him to say now because the Heat are playing poorly.
Plus, what does he have to lose? The names I'm reading are Posey, Williams and Wright. There's not much risk there.
