If Drew can match Hollins productivity I'll be happy. If he can do even more that is just an added bonus for me but I like the way Hollins always wants to get up there. I'm pretty positive Drew isn't as flashy as that kid, and losing Hollins sucks because he is always celebrating on the bench whenever one of our guys scored or contributed. Always good to have a team with a boosted morale...we'll see how what happens but I don't think the Mavericks will match

Just....just bravo. That's....well, it's incredible. I mean, you packed that little bit of text with just so many errors...the efficiency of it boggles the mind.

Singleton will get 0 minutes next season with the current roster.

I'm a little disappointed about Hollins just as a third string center but otherwise, oh well. Don't see the Mavs matching.

We need Hollins more than we need Singleton... though I wish we could keep both of them. :/

Congrats Ryan, out of vet minimum territory. Would have been a luxury to keep Hollins around, sort of like Orlando keeping Gortat around. For a million dollar towel waver, we can do cheaper.

My first reaction is a bit of frustration.

Hollins is mostly a role player, but, he appears to be one that plays a positive role for the Mavs.

It's clear that Damp can not be a front line starter, night in and night out for 82 games. We would be fortunate to get a solid 41 games out of Damp...thus we need other players to fill the added time. Gooden and Hollins appeared to be a nice mix of role players who could contribute for those games that Damp is worthless on the court.

That in mind, I would have prefered Gortat...but our offer was matched...now is Hollins worth matching? It all depends, who's available as a role player center...if there is nothing else available...then the Mavs must consider matching.

Of course, we might be able to do a sign/trade in order to get some "Draft" compensation from the T-Wolves!!! Is he worth a 1st rounder to the Wolves?

It's not the end of the world but I wish we would have kept him. An athletic big who provides energy off the bench is nice to have. He might not have a lick of offense but he made up for on the other end.

We're going to regret depending on Gooden as our backup center. Or heaven help us Tim Thomas.

Actually if Hollins has already signed, then there's no way we can do a sign and trade or receive any type of compensation. If we match, what's the rule, we can't trade him to Minny for 1 year.

We can match, correct? Even if we don't have enough left in the MLE or the LLE?

Not that I would if it's alot of money, but I liked having him.

The Mavs can match because he's restricted but it sounds like Cuban has already wished him the best.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4374482

Mavericks owner Mark Cuban even posted this to his Twitter account Monday: "congrats to ryan hollins. wish him the best w twolves."

Minny has both the LLE and MLE, I would assume they gave him part of the MLE.

Its probably not even about money at this point, but more about just clearing space for the roster.

To any TWolves fans reading this, congratulations. You got a real stand up seeming guy that gives every ounce of energy and hustle anytime that he's on the court (and even when he's off). He is by no means a starter, and you have to watch his fouls, but I think you'll be happy you have him.

Nothing is official, but it's likely that James Singleton will return to the Mavs. They need him. Singleton won't play major minutes. With Drew Gooden and Tim Thomas crowding the frontcourt picture, Singeton might not even play as many as he did last season, when he averaged 14.3 minutes in 62 games. But Singleton would play a significant role as a energy source/enforcer when he's summoned off the bench. Dallas Morning News Blog

I liked Hollins, and would have been happy to see him back, but am utterly unshaken and unconcerned by his departure. 3 years and 7 million is probably as good a deal as he could have hoped for, so congrats to him.

I will continue to hope for Singleton's return.

I hope the owner/ GM here (as it looks like they have) is not as much as a douche as Otis and let Ryan go, because reality is he isn't getting double digit minutes here playing behind Damp and Gooden, and I am sure he wants to play some more minutes. Good Luck Ryan!

Yeah 7 million for Hollins now looks like a no brainer not to match. Centers come at a premium in this league. I just hope Jawai loses 40 pounds.

I don't even think we have the ability to match. We don't have early bird rights, so I'm pretty sure we would have had to use to the BAE to re-sign Hollins, and if it's 3 years then that removes that as a possibility.

There's no way Hollins is worht 7 million....I wish him the best and hopefully he can stay out of foul trouble with the Wolves, I wanted Singleton back over him anyway.

We can offer Hollins 2yrs/4.14million maximum with the BAE and 5yrs/7.5million with the remaining MLE.

I think we need to start a Hollins appreciation thread, and just wish him a good time in Minnesota where he'll get way more than he's shown he deserves both in cash and in playtime, but a losing team with lots of playtime is a great place for a guy with potential like Hollins.

Hollins got the best possible deal and Im happy for him.

That's what I though when we signed Diop to a 3-year $6.5MM contract. That's not a lot of money to gamble on a player that's young, long and athletic.

Id love to see it structured, but he probably starts around 2mill, which isnt that bad when you consider Diop was starting at 5-6mill/yr.

Im not sure they can match. He doesnt have any bird rights (1year contract), he isnt a first or second year player (arenas rule), and we dont have the money in the form of exceptions to match.

Its all moot since Cubes is waving goodbye to him, but techinically Id like to know.

Giving Diop MLE doesn't look much better now. (end result: stuck with Matt "worthless" Carroll)

Another young player we gave up too soon on imo. All he needed was a little bulk and he could be a really good role player that gives us high energy. Oh well. We'll see what happens. Maybe a trade will come.

I was wrong. He waived his bird rights in the trade is what someone was saying on another board. If that's the case the Mavs can't do anything about it but wish him well.

He got a good deal so I'm happy for him. Let's just hope the Mavs have something else in mind besides a Damp/Gooden center combo.

I really like Hollins. Things just dont make sense for the mavs and hollins to continue together. Wish him the best in the future though.

I would agree with that assesment for Hollins. But the mavs were never going to resign Hollins. It was obvious that RC didn't like him and refused to see his potential. He gave him very little playing time to develop or really show his abilitys. He was just not in RC's plans. That was stated by RC's actions most of the season and verbally by the FO a month ago.

It was hard to give Hollins much playing time when he would rack up 3 fouls in 8 minutes on the floor. I don't know what "abilities" you speak of? Hollins wasn't good for much but a lob from Kidd or a put-back dunk on offense.
