The kings are doing a much better job on Dirk and denying him the ball.

RE: Kings vs. Mavs Gameday Thread (11/02/04)
For those of you watching the game, is Dampier not getting rebounds because of the way these two teams play, (lots of long shots leading to long rebounds that benefit guards and forwards more so than Centers), or is he just not giving the effort???

Excellent.
Damn. Shouldn't have been this close but a win's a win, yes? Brilliance (& a preview of a grand year?) from Dirk. I'm happy.

RE:Kings vs. Mavs Gameday Thread (11/02/04)
DAL really did a number on Stojakovic: 12 pts on 3-15 shooting in 39 minutes. On the other hand, Brad Miller and unknown but hard-working F Matt Barnes had solid games.
Al Henderson doesn't look washed up at all. 3 blocks and nice rebounding numbers in limited minutes, a workmanlike hustling kind of guy at PF. I'm also thinking that we might have a Bobby Jackson/Nick Van Exel-like combo PG/SG in Jason Terry, a capable shooter and ball-handler to have off the bench.

RE:Kings vs. Mavs Gameday Thread (11/02/04)
Dirk only had one FGA and 4 FTA's in the 4th mostly because Sacramento was doubling him quite a bit. But, he turned that into 4 assists in the 4th. So, double Dirk and he made them pay regardless. What did it do? It left others wide open and players like Mike Finley made them pay.
One reason why I believe this team will be a dominant team at some point in the next couple of years...Offensively, they have a great combination of shooters, slashers, bulk, and pure athletes. Defensively, obviously the bulk, quick hands, and the athleticism is nice.

Really hope that Stackhouse learns how to pass...
On 2-3 occasions he took impossible shots when a teammate was wide open right under the goal.
Otherwise, great game from Dirk. Typical Nelson, though...where was Booth? Mbenga?

Finley had a great fourth quarter. 5-6 shooting, 11 points, and quite a few baskets that helped stop Sacramento's momentum.

RE: Kings vs. Mavs Gameday Thread (11/02/04)
Scared me at the end, but a W's a nice way to get the season started (even if it's a horrible thing on election night - sorry all you republitexicans).
Saw some good things and some not so great things from pretty much everybody. Dirk's play goes without saying, but my main props for the night go straight to Devin. The stats don't blow you away, but man what a mature performance by the kid in his first NBA game. This is the first time I've gotten to see him play and you can count me impressed.

Greg Anthony is a Mavs fan...he tries to hide it, but he always supports us. He said that we were very sound defensively this year and we'll be a sleeper come playoffs/a force.
