I'd say it is 50/50...... I hate DoJo but he probably is a better PG than Roddy. And Carlisle may envision DoJo being the backup PG behind Collison now that West is gone.
DoJo can't shoot but does EVERYTHING else better than Roddy. And both weill not be a Mav next year anyway........

Um no...Roddy is better than Dojo in pretty much every way.

Take Roddys GS game and his Spurs playoff game and it exceeds everything Dojo has ever done in his entire two years by 1000%

True. But Roddy also can't be counted on to stay healthy, can't be counted on to run the offense. Can't be counted on to be aggressive. Can't be counted on to minimize mistakes.
And Roddy has more potential than DoJo. But if that potential is always in street clothes it doesn't really matter.
And like I said, both will be gone next year anyway.

Dojo is a better point than roddy. If he could actually shoot he could have a career.

Totally agree - DoJo is a better PG than Roddy... But Kaman is a better PG than DoJo.
This team desperately needs another point guard.

Dojo is kind of Russell Westbrook wild to me at times sans the scoring.

Those tags should be banned. I'd hate for this place to become spurstalk.

We do need another backup point, I am afraid of both Roddy and Dojo. Or, we need a starting point and Collison can backup. .

Melvin Ely and Chris Douglas-Roberts also signed? Cubes says that West can come back, possibly? No more pre-season games and a 15-man roster starting Monday?
I just don't understand. Can we have 18 players now?

Why did the Mavs sign Ely and CDR just to waive them a day later?
Apparently it was to get them to the D-League. So I assume that they can be called at any point in the year if need be, and one of the kids can be moved down if need be?

half of the roster should go to Frisco.
-Roddy
-DoJo
-Dahantay J
-Ely
-CDR
-Cunningham
-Wright
-James
That's a nice D-league team. Watching them in a NBA playoff series won't be fun.

But I thought it had to be one of the kids? I thought there was a rule that you can't be sent to the D-League from an NBA roster if you have been in the league for X amount of years.

Nope. The player must agree to be sent down when they have more than 2 years in the league.

Yep, Lamar Odom agreed to go to the D-League last season, but he didn't end up playing any games.

Ah, that is what I was thinking about. Of course it is career suicide if you refuse to be sent down......

Just to clarify you can't just "send a kid down" and call up someone like CDR or Ely. Sending someone on your roster to the DLeague doesn't open up a roster spot.
They'd have to waive/trade someone.

Indeed. We are still limited to 15 (13 active) so it doesn't matter how many we have.
We can waive them from the Mavs and they can play for the Legends, but the only way that they can be a Mav is to actually have a roster spot and contract. I wonder if the reporting is off, or if there was some other motivation, because the only contract that played even one game for us was Curry.

NBA's Opening Night rosters must be finalized by 5PM ET today. Trading Jones would buy Mavs some time on Delonte front but no takers so far

2h Marc Stein Marc Stein @ESPNSteinLine
Mavs shopping Dominique Jones w/out success so most likely scenario before roster cutdown remains release of Delonte West to keep Eddy Curry
|
Duh.
Why would the Mavs think anyone would want him in a stand alone trade?

No takers for Dojo? No way....
My guess is that the Mavs have been shopping Dojo for some time now.

I wonder if they could get high second round draft pick for him..
Does this bit of news mean that the locker room issue is between DoJo and West?

Not necessarily and we may never know. However, Dojo was supposed to be a PG and when he was out there he was looking for his shot moreso than setting up the offense. He had a lot of TO's from being caught in mid air going to the basket instead of driving and dishing.
