You can't even listen to Mavericks games on the internet through 103.3 ESPN.

It says here

http://stations.espn.go.com/stations...?id=listenlive

They are prohibited from streaming the Mavs games.

I'm sure the NBA would gladly sell you some ridiculously expensive audio package to stream games... Sorry.

Major League Baseball has a ridiculously cheap audio league pass, and they even have an iPhone app for it.

Wonder if the NBA has that.

Yeah..the WWDC was today...

I will be sticking with my iPhone 3G...I don't see much of an upgrade to 3GS to warrant spending another $199 and hassle.

i take it that U2 was being sarcastic.

how about the fact that the #1 feature they're touting with the 3GS is copy and paste? i've had that on my blackberry for years.

How about that Palm Pre? That thing looks sweet, too.

Sorry UL, I should have used the blue moon icon.

I'll never turn to that side. I've got too much invested in the good side. Besides, those commercials tick me off.

Hardware

iPhone 3G S features video recording, Voice Control, 16GB ($199 with new/upgrade-eligible AT&T Contract, $399 with contract extension) or 32GB ($299 with new/upgrade-eligible AT&T Contract, $499 with contract extension) of storage. The iPhone 3G, a lesser model in terms of hardware, preserves an 8GB flash drive, and has a reduced price (to $99). It was announced at WWDC 2009.

Camera

The iPhone 3G S features a 3.0 megapixel autofocus camera that takes pictures and video. The camera automatically adjusts focus, exposure, colour and contrast and includes an automatic macro focus. The camera software also includes a "tap to focus" feature, where users can touch the display to select an object or area of interest, and the camera will automatically re-adjust the focus and exposure of the image. VGA video clips can also be recorded and edited from the iPhone 3G S by utilising the new trimming tool to trim the start and stop points. The phone also allows users to send pictures and video by email or MMS and post them to MobileMe or YouTube.

Voice Control

The iPhone 3G S has a feature which allows users to interact with the device through speech. For example, Voice Control can be used to dial the phone number of a specific contact, or to find out the name of a song which is currently playing on the device's built in iPod. According to Apple's "Compare iPhones" section, the iPhone 3G will not support Voice Control.

Digital Compass

The iPhone 3G S features a new digital compass to allow users to see which direction they are heading. Application support will allow users to track which direction they are heading and sync with the built-in GPS to track their path.

Woopee.

A lot of that is in the G1 huh..... compass, google voice search (although I never use it, I don't know how crazy I'd look saying "asian ass porn" to my phone in the train), video recording with youtube direct upload. What's that thing about other companies copying Apple?

Not as crazy as I when I say it to my phone in a bathroom stall with guys on either side of me.

Awkward...

wait, all this time the iPhone hasn't had voice dialing? Are you kidding me? Again, a feature i've had on my BB for years.

I once thought that if my phone wasn't company provided, i'd go with an iPhone for sure. But now i'm glad that i haven't had to go that route in the past. If i had to get my own phone now, i would seriously consider the Pre, except for the fact that it's on Sprint. Ugh.

So, if updating your iPhone with this new software, it will be the same as having the 3G S minus the Video Camera capabilities?

Do people really use voice dialing as anything besides a novelty to try out in social situations?

I'm sorry but I think that is a useless, frivolous feature.

I agree. I've had it but never use it. I always use my speed dials (hold down #2 to dial home, #3 for wife's cell, etc.).

I did today...for me, the big thing was the bigger keyboard for texting. It works out for me really well. The voice recorder is pretty cool as well.

The voice recorder cracks me up. There were already several apps out there (free ones) that did that. I have had one called iTalk since last December.

I know a lot of my friends are starting their recordings with "Stardate..."

Well, along with the update came the problem that the keyboard for my texts doesn't come out. Anyone else have that problem? I basically cant reply to text messages.

Can't say I've run into that problem. Sometimes there will be a minor delay with it going to the sideways keyboard or going back to the original, but that's the only problem I've had.

I can't reply to text messages and i can't create a text message, the only way i'm able to text is if i forward a message, and after that, that's when the keyboard comes up.

It's really annoying.

I don't want to do too much griefing in the Apple circle jerk thread...

...but it still floors me that cut/paste is one of the leading "features" on the new iPhone OS. And Picture text messaging.

Seriously...Apple can market anything.

It is truly the lamest "update" of an OS.

They're holding back things so they can have something to update.

Because the phone is practically perfect as is. There's not much to update. Haters be damned. Use one for a week and tell me it's not awesome.

I played with my father's blackberry bold the other day. What an awkward piece of crap.

Use a G1 and get back to me.

If it doesn't have a Micrso SD slot (or any other way of expanding internal memory) then it is far, far from perfect.

I'm not saying it's a bad product. It revolutionized the smart phone, no doubt. But it's no longer the best product on the market.

Now, the ipod, that's a different story. It was NEVER the best product on the market and didn't pioneer ANYTHING, and yet people keep paying a premium for mp3 players that lack the functionality and flexibility of better, cheaper alternatives.

I hate Apple so, so much.

I'd love to have a look at one of those in person, but I've never actually seen anyone with one. I don't personally know anyone that has t-mobile, come to think of it.

My perception when I see a commercial for the G1 is that it looks clunky, but again I've never actually seen one so I couldn't say.

As far as the memory goes...apparently I have 4 gigs free on my phone right now so I guess that's not an issue for me.
