Countdown to new season of GoT? Anyone know if they going to do like a 30 minute series recap or something?

GOT was good minus the ridiculous Ed Sheeran cameo. Yikes.

Never heard of the guy until everyone started bitching about him being on GoT... Honestly, I didn't have any problem with his acting or the song he sang (but his ginger face does seem extremely punchable).

I've been oddly unaffected by the drama of GOT, but tonight's episode got to me.

That dragon person better burn everyone to death.

I thought the latest episode would have been better if the dragon had died from being shot by the weapon.

POTENTIAL GOT SPOILERS

Gonna take a LOT of poison to kill a dragon, plus poison generally has to be applied right before use.

How about all the food that got destroyed while winter is coming?

Wow.

GoT has ruined all of its political intrigue but traded it in for crazy (often non-sensical) action. Dear god, last nights episode

Really? You aren't finding it amusing that Tyrion is getting absolutely owned by his brother and sister even being the self-proclaimed "I drink and I know things"? Little Finger being a pain in (Sansa's) ass yet again and flip flopping sides. You know that he will have some major part in the story before he dies. "Danny" and Jon are starting to get googly eyes now. There is a lot of stuff going on IMO. But damn! ... that dragon scene just raised the bar for action ... even though I totally saw it coming a long time ago.

The show backed itself into a corner by moving along at a snails pace for many seasons promising yyyyuge things to come. Once Danny landed in Westeros you knew that wild, plot holed action was inevitable.

SPOILER ALERT

My big problem is that there is little compelling reason to hate the white walkers. I just don't care about a bad guy that has no purpose at least so far. Danny vs the Lanisters is so much more compelling that I just kinda feel let down with this white walker business.

Pacing has been a huge issue. The last few seasons have gone so slow that now they have to accelerate to a speed that we don't even get the interesting inter-personal interactions (other than the Hound-Tormund chat). This episode wasn't terrible as it was mostly an action episode, but the last episode was ridiculous. Nothing got the time it needed. I don't mind the action, because they have legitimately doing a great job with all the battles, but between killing off all the interesting factions down to just four (now just three?) and simply not giving people enough time to develop relationships/chemistry, the show has definitely transitioned from a show all about political intrigue and inter-personal clashes to a dumb action movie. It's a great action movie, but totally different than the first six seasons.

SPOILER
Tyrion and Jaime meet up for the first time since Tyrion killed their father and we only get 30 seconds of dialogue?

Drogon accepts Jon and Danaerys starts falling in love with Jon and we get 15 seconds of Jon petting the dragon?

Cersei tells Jaime she's preggo and we get maybe 10 seconds of expositional dialogue?

We spend a painful 1.5 seasons getting to know the Dornish Mutant Ninja Turtles and --BOOP-- dead.

cont Spoiler talk...

And the timeline is wayyyy out of whack. Like what used to take characters entire seasons to move around Westeros now happens in minutes.

It's just a different show now, but as long as dragons are flying then I'm watching.

Yeah, I don't think anything would actually stop me from finishing the show. It's also still entertaining despite becoming a totally different show. First five seasons were all about moral ambiguity, scheming, and the pursuit of power all with amazing writing. Now it's just a decent fantasy action movie with clear good and evil.

This was my main issue. So.. it takes no time whatsoever to get to where you want to go? It's almost like they made a decision about how many more episodes they were going to have not realizing that cramming that much into so few episodes would change the dynamics of the show. The acting is still superb. The visuals are as well... the plot is now rushed along too much. It doesn't match the rest of the series.

GoT trying to get all the Jerry Bruckheimer fans on board. Action sequences borderline retarded...every few seconds a last minute saving from a sure death etc.

The plan to go beyond the wall was so stupid, you knew that they just wrote it in the story for a special plot. Jon calling for Dany to save their asses and you knew right there the whole storyline was just so they could give the Nightking a fucking dragon. And boom, it happens...

Just boring right now.

Just wrapped up season 2 of Stranger Things.. It's enjoyable. Solidly written and great for the nostalgia

Also... wanted to like the new Jason Bateman show on Netflix, but it's not that great. Haven't been able to finish the first season. I think maybe a lot of people are saying they really like the show because they really like Jason Bateman... but it's not really that good of a show. The white trash are horribly written. Their dialogue and portrayal isn't remotely believable.

I really liked the UnaBomber mini-series too. Great performances by the two lead actors. Really got a sense of what led the UnaBomber to do what he did, which I was previously unaware.

Has anybody been watching The Resident on FOX or S.W.A.T. on CBS?

Somewhat interested in The Resident. I just started watching The Alienist. It has a little potential.

Dark - use the subtitles, the dubbing sucks.
Alienist - Fizzling out a bit but still interesting.
Ozark - entertaining and somewhat thrilling
Vikings - watching it for the second time through with wife. Haven't watched the 5th season yet.

I couldn't get into Ozark. The Ozark natives are very poorly written. I kicked it to the curb an episode or two before the season finale.

The Terror

Really really good. Interesting setting. Great acting. Sound design is perfect and dayum, it’s the slow sort of creepy.

The Terror was interesting..... It really had no need for a monster... The story was good enough on its own. And in my opinion, by the end of the season, the monster detracted from the story line.

Haunting of Hill House is real good.

Couple places it gets a little wordy and the pacing dips, but then you get an amazing episode like the Twin Storms.

Absolutely fabulous.

Yeah Hill House is one of Netflix's best shows. They strangely do horror pretty well (The Ritual being another gem of theirs).

Ending was a bit lackluster, and the monologues do get old at times, but everything else is gravy.
