I doubt it. They may have called JET just for his opinion on him and get a feel for character/work ethic, but I doubt they took him because JET was his coach. If they did Donnie needs to pack his shit and GTFO.

And they followed that up by practically giving away a 2nd round pick for Redick at the trade deadline
Now I'm sure someone is going to come in here and say it's just a 2nd round pick that player would have never played for the Mavs
But to think they completely ignored Redick's injury and we you go back and read all the trade day comments by the mavs they fully expected this guy to help in the playoffs not sit out.

I am confused about your stats. Tyler Bey played 18 games. Tyrell Terry played 11 games. Josh Green played 39 games. Willie Cauley-Stein shot some 3's and was terrible. That being said, I am not sure how their catch and shoot numbers are. For example, I know Luka's 3-point shooting improved to 35%. I don't know about his catch and shoot. Maybe your 28% is correct? What makes me question it is your inclusion of Barea. He didn't even play last season.

3pt shooting this year - last year difference
Omoruyi 50.0% (N/A) N/A
Kleber 45.5% (41.0%) -4.5%
Burke 40.0% (35.4%) +4.6%
Brunson 40.0% (40.5%) -0.5%
THJ 39.4% (39.4%) +0.0%
Bullock 33.3% (41.0%) -7.7%
Franky 30.0% (47.9%) -17.9%
Doncic 25.7% (35.0%) -9.3%
Powell 25.0% (23.8%) +1.2%
Porzingis 23.5% (37.6%) -14.1%
DFS 19.2% (39.4%) -20.2%
S. Brown 11.1% (42.3%) -31.2%
We got a hell of a lot of good shooters. We're just not shooting for @#$%.Brunson and THJ are the only players who are really shooting as well as last year.
I guess the good news is that if Kidd ever gets the offense going and those guys get back to last year's number, this offense is going to be strong. Could be just a funk.

This isn't updated after today's game Maxi and DP hit 3s. Powells 3% is going to sky rocket after today.

This just about sums it up. That's such a huge regression from an entire team it almost doesn't seem possible. How can a professional basketball team be so bad at shooting wide open 3s?

Meanwhile the Kings were practically trying to give away a guy like Buddy Hield and I'm sure the Mavs probably felt like he couldn't help because they already had great shooters who spread the floor LOL

This is where the complaining is overextended. I'm not sure Hield is any better than THJ.

I think Hield is pretty easily better than THJ. The latter has the insane ability to completely disappear for a game. I don't see that in Hield, who is a better shooter and possibly a better defender, certainly a tick better rebounding.

Maybe, but I don't think it's enough on it's own.
Now, a package of Bagley/Hield is something to look at.

Someone mentioned Tristan Thompson before. A Hield/Thompson trade could help on two fronts. Hield is very similar to THJ though. Just a better shooter, would probably look great getting feeds from Luka and would space the floor.

Buddy Hield can actually create his own shot for starters.
He's not just a Catch and shoot player like THJ.
Don't let the numbers fool you in Sacramento. He's a better overall player than THJ and put him next to Luka he will kill it on open looks.
Just look up his 3-Pt % on open shots and it's not even close between him and THJ.

Spot on. We tend to fall in love with our own replacement level players. There some here that actually believe JB is a top half of the league point guard. We can be a delusional lot.

If they were practically trying to give him away why is he still there? I’d swap THJ for Hield in a heartbeat, but I doubt the Kings are interested in a straight swap. Doesn’t matter what the Mavs thought if they didn’t have a package the Kings are interest in. I think I mentioned it last season, but I’d love to know what the kings want for a Hield/Bagley package deal. I’m sure THJ new deal makes moving him harder with his play this season.

New basketball is my guess. Plus, many of them suck.

So are you saying the Mavs are cursed....LOL
Any good shooter who comes here will continue to be a letdown
Hard to imagine that franchise once had two of the top 3 pointer shooters in todays game on the roster not too long ago in Curry and McDermott. Imagine those two guys right now next to Luka

We need trades but Buddy Hield ain't it for me. I'm out on "shooters". They can never shoot when it matters and if they by some miracle are hitting shots when it matters, they're giving up just as much on defense. Get me some guys who can fn play basketball.

Curry is shooting 34% from three for the month of November. This la la land Mavs fans have built up in their minds about him isn't reality. I'd rather have him over THJ because he can handle the ball, but it's hilarious what people think versus what he actually is.

Not sure many, if any, are making that claim. He's definitely sniffing starting level PG for sure. His step forward is a breath of fresh air given our other younger pieces or lack thereof.
You might have been better off mentioning Powell or DFS, but not JB. Kid has been balling.

Stats support that idea too
In PER, he’s ranked 14th among PGs. He’s balling out of his mind and beating half the starting PGs in production.

The consensus opinion around the league is that the Mavs will have to spend to retain him, because other teams are going to pay up.

Oh boy we better pony up because there is now way to find a JB caliber player anywhere. He is easily a top 28 PG in the league.

To be clear JB is not our problem but may be a piece we can trade to facilitate additional moves to replace the Josh Green, Richardson, and Bullock whiffs. Not sure we will ever recover from the 2019/2020 offseason in Luka's tenure with the Mavs. No certainty we can ever make up for that miss. Lets just come to terms with that and we will all feel better. Tyrese Maxey, Desmond Bane, Saddiq Bey, Precious Achiwua et al. A blind folded Donnie throwing 3 darts at the available picks on the board would have yielded a better pick just from a pure probability perspective. We literally had to try to suck and we succeeded.
