One league source who has spoken to Cuban during the playoffs told The Post he’d be shocked if Cuban didn’t keep Brunson, who averaged 28 points in the first-round series versus Utah. That doesn’t bode well for Leon Rose’s Knicks as they search for a premier floor general. Rose’s son, Sam, and Aaron Mintz are Jalen’s CAA agents. – via Marc Berman @ New York Post

Just for fun, is a sign and trade possible with the Knicks, and do they even have anything we would want. Robinson is an obvious target considering the similar situations, and Barrett, Quickley, Toppin, and Reddish are attractive pieces.
I'm on board with keeping Brunson as worst case you could trade him in a year and he'd be a valuable piece for the duration of his contract, coupled with the cap situation...just seeing what all the options are out there.

I mean, Brunson is the reason we are even in the second round of the playoffs. If you don't keep that, then what's the point? It's just simple logic here. Either you care about money or you care about winning. You can't have both at this juncture with this team.

That’s my stance on it. If Cuban still cares about winning he makes a competitive offer. I just hope if an agreement can’t be reached right away that JB comes to Cuban with whatever offer he has on the table, and gives him a chance to match it before he signs anything.

There will be no discount. On that you can be sure.

I worry that Cuban will screw this up by trying a low-ball amount to begin negotiations. The Brunson group is offended by the opening offer and say "screw you Mavs, we are insulted by your offer". Maybe Nico will be a positive influence and/or Cuban has learned from previous mistakes, but Mavs history brings more anxiety than there should be. This is pretty straight forward if you don't try something cute.

CP flop compilation through 7/2021 (Lol it's been updated)
I mean if he's really that great, just play the damn game. He's more interested in trying to pick up cheap fouls than focusing on leading his team.

I’m not expecting any discount. I think you start at 5 year/$100 million. I think we are the only team that can offer a 5th year, so if that’s true at least we have that going for us. I think JB is a true hooper, so him securing a big deal isn’t going to make him stop working on his game. I hope and think he stays.

This is very reasonable and I agree with all of this. He’s a true hooper and a winner. He’d rather be with a contending team.

On TNT, Kenny Smith says that Chris Paul’s mother, Robin, reached out to explain what happened with the young Dallas fan. She said the fan was obviously inebriated and kept tapping her on the shoulder and wishing her happy Mother’s Day, even after she politely asked him to stop.

This story/non-story is so weird
First it was shoving
Then it was hugging
Now a drunk dude was just being obnoxious?

Get up in a box. You're in hostile territory. Most fans are normal, but there's always a bit of a risk of being annoyed, especiallywhen your down behind the bench. I really don't care about her experience because he's a shifty little b!tch!

Still think the removal from the arena was due to brining his buddies down. That's a big no-no especially in the playoffs. The catalyst was the likely complaint from Paul's family after asking them to stop.
All that and Chris Paul is a bitch for his reaction and stoking of the fire post-game by him and the media.
Such a non-story.

9 players who turned down big contracts and regretted it
(some pretty sad cases - list includes joe smith, bonzi wells, schroeder, oladipo, and our very own hotdog Noel.)
Hopefully JB and the Mavs come to a reasonable agreement!

Man do I love Pat Bev as a talking head. One of the best new faces on national TV right next to JJ .

Watch him school Stephen A.
Absolutely brilliant.
Draymond Green will also have a great media career.

Whether that stems from LaVine’s own exit interview with local reporters in late April or a genuine belief he will leave the franchise that still can pay him the most is unknown. What’s certain is that league gossip throughout this week has linked LaVine to at least four teams — Lakers, Trail Blazers, Mavericks, Hawks — with almost certainly more to follow. 1 day ago – via K.C. Johnson @ NBC Sports
Not sure how they would make that work salary wise. I assume LaVine is getting a max deal somewhere?

Brunson snt?
Otherwise this is probably his agent hyping up teams that want him even if they have no chance of getting him, Lakers are strapped cap wise and would have to trade Lebron/AD/Russ.

SLAM Magazine is ranking the top 75 teams of all time.. 2011 Mavs came in at #48
Coach: Rick Carlisle
Record: 57-25
Roster: Alexis Ajinca, JJ Barea, Rodrigue Beaubois, Corey Brewer, Caron Butler, Brian Cardinal, Tyson Chandler, Brendan Haywood, Dominique Jones, Jason Kidd, Ian Mahinmi, Shawn Marion, Steve Novak, Dirk Nowitzki, Sasha Pavlovic, DeShawn Stevenson, Peja Stojakovic, Jason Terry
There was still a sense that calling Dirk Nowitzki “the greatest European player of all time” was sort of a diss. Nobody doubted his production, but plenty of people questioned whether he could be that dude when it mattered. All questions were answered that June: With help from a veteran supporting cast that included Jason Terry, Shawn Marion, Tyson Chandler and 37-year-old Jason Kidd, Dirk averaged 26 points and 9.7 rebounds in the Finals to dispatch the Heatles and confirm his spot among the all-time greats.

Nick Angstadt: Dorian Finney-Smith coined a new nickname “the Bang Bros” for him and Reggie. …and Bullock understandably lost it.

DFS + RB are not only good 3 & D guys but they are both great chemistry guys. Their combined salary is a bargain over the next few years.

Dallas Mavericks legend J.J. Barea retires from professional basketball
Barea is a legend in Puerto Rico that just loved to play the game. The 38-year-old missed his final game with a leg injury, but he is ready to hang up the sneakers. Jose Juan noted he wants to take a break before jumping back into basketball. He has expressed a desire to coach in the past, and he currently works for the Mavericks in a part-time scouting and player development role.
Lebron slept soundly last night, but couldn?t figure out why. Does JJ get his jersey retired in Dallas?

Doubtful, but he is a legend on that 2011 banner.

I'm fully on board the Josh Green hype train. I forget he won't turn 22 until November. He'll never have Maxey's or Bane's offensive games, but he can be just as valuable by playing lockdown defense, running the floor, cutting, and hitting open 3s.

Idk how much he will actually improve but it's really awesome to see the initiative taken with that degree of commitment to get better.
