Mavs waive Dorsey and sign AJ Lawson. Looks like the FO is finally starting to wake up and make smarter moves. Dorsey is good but Lawson fits more of a need at sf/pf with our injuries.

Guessing because of so many injuries? Either way, glad to see him on board

Mavs unlikely to extend Wood
Vegas has us with best odds at trading for Young

Oh god Luka and Trae Young? They'd battle over the ball, we'd be all time worst team at defense and terrible 3 point shooting team. I'd rather just let Wood's contract expire and walk than have Young for several years. Please no.

Wow, Coop pointed out that if the Mavs win tomorrow, then we move into 5th place. We were 10th after losing to Minnesota last Monday.

I dont see how we could end up with Trae Young and I don't see why they let him go

I could see how you could and why they would. He's been at odds with the coach and team for a little bit and has been heavily rumored to be wanting out. I just don't see how you could do it without Wood and/or Green involved.

I don't buy it. I guess anything is possible, but I haven't seen anything more than speculation.

Agreed. Unless he forces his way out Atlanta will dump the coach and try and make it work before they move him unless they get an offer they just can?t refuse.

Lavine makes the most sense, but good god that contract. If he doesn't stay healthy, then you're f'ed.

It does. What are the odds Green or Hardy ever get to his level? I like those 2, and Wood, but if we had to move 2 of those 3 to get him... DUECES. Lukas ready

I'd do everything possible to keep Wood. Wood is doing everything we predicted he would if he started. Maxi being out has forced him to play D. Maxi's defense is overrated too.
It would be hard to contend with Luka/Lavine and f'in Powell and McGee at center. No way.

What are the odds Wood is a Mav next season?
I'd say like 10%.

I would say north of 50-50 as we are underrating the fact that Luka and Wood actually seem to like each other.

Luka, Wood, Dinwiddie, Green, and DFS are the five guys who can actually warrant minutes on a championship squad. We should be looking to upgrade everyone else.

Spurs waived Gorgui Dieng. Seems like a nice low cost defensive option til Maxi gets back.

I'd prefer to kick the tires on Holmes and Bamba ... but we need to do something so Dieng is better than nothing. We'd probably have to promise to start him and offer him 3/ 30

1) Luka - oh hell no
2) SD - no
3) Wood - no
4) THJ - no (but maybe trade)
5) DFS - no
6) Bertans - guaranteed money. Maybe trade ballast.
7) Powell - positive +/- guy and huge trade asset with expiring
8) Bullock - guaranteed money. Maybe trade ballast
9) Kleber - guaranteed money. Maybe trade ballast.
10) McGee - guaranteed money. Maybe trade ballast.
11) Green - no (but maybe trade)
12) Hardy
13) Pinson
14) Frank
15) Walker
------------------
16) Wright - no experienced vet can take a two-way
17) Lawson - no experienced vet can take a two-way
That's kind of a tough call until Green gets back.
Walker is a decent 3rd/4th PG a la Derrick Rose and an upgrade on Burke. Just gotta find our 2nd stringer.
Pinson seems like a chemistry guy who we are unlikely to cut.
Frank is deeply expendable with our full roster, but with Green/Dodo out, he's been solid defending guards and wings.
No chance we waive Hardy.
My vote would be Frank after Green comes back if we want to bring in another big.

Who is the biggest name to get moved before the TDL? LaVine? Does Chicago blow it up and trade everyone? Toronto blow it up?

Wouldn't it be weird to have a Small Forward who's good? But never happens.

I know but that's about the only one, and he was somewhat past his prime I remember Toronto didn't want him anymore? Regardless he worked out well here, but that was over a decade ago.

Don?t forget the Custodian Brian Cardinal.
But seriously, that year we had BOTH Marion and Butler with Cardinal playing spot minutes. Both Marion and Butler were legit stars. Butler just went down before our playoff runs
Team was so loaded with talent it?s hard to fathom sometimes.
Peja was our backup PF and 15th man
Our guard rotation was HOF Kidd, Terry, and Barea

True I don't know why I forget about Caron Butler. Josh Howard looked like he was going to be a star for a little while even made an All-Star team but he flamed out quickly. But after Marion and Butler were gone we haven't really had a good SF.
But Butler got hurt in January of our championship season and missed the rest of the season and playoffs. We only had him for basically 1 1/2 seasons. Pretty amazing that we were good enough to win without him.

Harrison Barnes was solid, but a far cry from Marion.
Not a lot of quality between the championship year and now. Without Luka we would probably be watching a few lottery draft picks grow.

Yeah, Detroit would totally go for that...
Realistically, you're looking at Powell, Bullock, Hardy, and a first for Bojan. They want a first and a young player with upside.

I think Mavs are giving up too much there. I don?t think Mavs are willing to part with DP.
I would give up THJ and Hardy.

And a first...
I'm not telling you what I or the FO would be willing to give up. I'm telling you the price. And he has a lot of suitors.

Yep, more a formality since his contract was going to be guaranteed after this weekend.
T-Mac specifically mentioned Wright earning minutes and the Mavs wanting to get Hardy more minutes. It seems the latter is over the back issue and they're ready to rock. Then again, I can also envision this place burning down if Wright starts getting more minutes than Hardy...

His knee was never right, and I basically called it saying he wouldn't last 15 games.
Can't have those types of restrictions when we desperately need another ball handler.

It's all about the potential though. Wright's ceiling is a makes no mistakes 10 mpg backup. Hardy's ceiling is D'Angelo Russell or Buddy Hield.
I like Wright, but he doesn't change anything. We need impact players like yesterday.

Totally agree, just wouldn't put anything past this staff or FO. But it does sounds like we should see more Hardy on the surface.

Green is 3 years in and can't even get to 8 points per game. He is a good hustler whos high energy actually masquerades as good defense even though he is actually not a good defender.
