Why Dallas might do it?
Backup/future replacement for Kidd, in Sergio. Backup for Dirk in Channing Frye. Starter in Webster ---- all for Stacks expiring.
Dallas would get the long contract of Webster, but the others end soon, if Dallas doesn't want them. Kidd, JHo, Webster, Dirk, Damp with Terry, Sergio, Wright, Frye, etc seems much more solid that what they presently have.

Why might Portland do it?
Dang they need to move some good bodies, and get a max type player to run with Roy. Even if they make this deal. Jarryd Bayless and Blake at PG.
Roy, Outlaw, Fernandez at the swing. Amare, Prysbilla and Oden in the frontcourt. They would tighten up as a group. They wouldn't have to take on all that contract because of Stacks expiring. They get best player of the trade.

Why might Phoenix do it?
Younger PF that might mesh with Shaq and not need his space, and lots of $$$ coming off the books.

I am not saying this would be a Gasol deal for the Mavs, but it doesn't seem like a bad deal, IMO -- that might work out for all the teams involved.

Maybe Cuban has to throw in the 2M buyout for Stack, and maybe Portland has to throw in a pick or two -- but it seems like it would work.

Thoughts?

I can't see this happening. All three of these teams are duking it out for the 5-8 seeds and are only separated by a handful of games...

Yes, but Phoenix wants to cut cost, and Portland if it makes this trade NEEDS to sure up their rotation. Portland has too many players, and too many draft picks to not do something, IMO.

Not a bad idea--but like a lot of good ideas, probably too complicated to ever really happen.
