What can we even trade at this point? Seems like we've traded every little asset we got.

If we can get Dragic and appease Luka and their agent and also dump some salary somewhere....one year of Dragic is good.

You are stepping in a dangerous territory signing guys simply to appease guys on your team. There has to be younger guys out there that will appease Luka.

Hopefully we got some future assets as a bonus to help facilitate that thing.

Not that I’m advocating it, but any chance we throw money at Boogie on a short deal?

On a short deal is fine.
Its getting to the point every one is nearly almost gone. Guys are gone that I didn't even expect to sign yet. Never thought we had a shot at the first tier guys but I didn't think we'd let even the 3rd tier guys slip from under us.

On one hand, I have this strong feeling of disappointment coming away with apparently nothing in the biggest FA ever.
On the other, these contracts are insane. We knew people were going to get paid, but WOW! Time will tell if this will be a repeat of 2016 or if we will regret not swinging.

@tim_cato: The Mavericks have traded for Miami's Goran Dragic, multiple sources confirm. Dragic is the only other Slovenian in the league, and was roommates with Luka Doncic during Slovenia's 2017 EuroBasket run.
@townbrad: Confirming that Dragic will be a Maverick, but what Mavs giving up is unclear.

As I said after missing out on everyone, if we end up getting Dragic and making Luka Happy this year and possibly having him help us make the playoffs that would be a great get. We lose nothing IMO since this is the last year of his contract.
Actually depending on how this goes I could see a way to giver Whiteside a one year try as well.
Would we be able to send THJ and Lee for Dragic and Whiteside ? We get all the cap space back next year and a decent shot at making playoffs.
Dragic
?
Luka
KP
Whiteside
could get us into the playoffs and if it doesn’t work out we have no long term commitment to anyone.
I know Whiteside is not popular around here and I get it. But I would consider.

We either get 28mill in cap or we get a 17mill trade exception. Not both.

I'm still stunned that Tobias Harris got 5/180. WTH? At these prices, I'm not too sad on the Mavs missing out. I think if I was going to step up and overpay, I'd have gone after Vuc at 4/100. D. Rose would'be been a nice veteran pg pickup at 2/15, and go after Green.
I think the Mavs are going to look for more improvement from their younger guys, and I don't mind that so much. Still, I'd like to at least have a big body in the middle. Maybe Salah will get increased minutes this year <?>. What an unpredictable offseason.

This is the going rate for players. Mavs can't be shocked at this point. If you want to play the free agency game you have to overpay. Its just what it is.

A rumor out there now has Dragic coming the Mavs as part of a different trade...

@VH3Yuh
Hearing a 3 team trade between the Wizards, Mavericks and Heat.
Heat would acquire: Bradley Beal
Wizards: Tim Hardaway and Justice Winslow
Mavericks: Goran Dragic and Miami 2nd round pick
Hearing from very credible sources.

Are the Mavs even able to give a future 1st right now?
I really hope the trade I shared above doesn't happen.

Still nothing on why.
Do we get picks? Just feel like pairing Luka with a friend?

Can be 2025 or can be a “swap” in 2020 or 2022
Just can’t completely trade away consecutive years.

Goran for THJ and a second rounder?
Seems reputable. Unclear if we’re sending the pick or receiving it

If it’s THJ for Goran, we wouldn’t be losing cap and still could be active
