Wang played 27 minutes and came up with these #s:
18pts, FG-6/7, 3PT-3/3 & FT-3/4
TR-3, OR-1 + DR-2
AS-2
TO-2
BL-3
Too bad GSW lost to Phoenix 126-149
Stole the following from the GSW board:
"I saw the whole game, Wang was the leading scorer with 13 points at half, but he did not play much the 2nd half. end up with 17 points. Murphy lead warriors with 29 points. his game is very simliar to Wang. overall, Wang is better in 3 pointer and slashing to the basket but Murphy is a better rebounder and defender."
"ZhiZhi played soft as butter the first game, but tonight he tore it up from the inside and out. We should try and sign him."
"...Not too bad GSWs---just get a WIN! WIN WITH UR WANG!"

You can't disrespect 3 blocks out of a team total of 4, which also happens to the entire no. of blocks for the other team. Also in 27 minutes. Can you?
How about 6 out 7 FGs, 3 out 3 for treys? I challenge you to do that against a bunch of 15 year old kids, tough guy.

The offense is very nice, but we already knew that Wang could fill the basket. He is supposed to be particularly working on defense and rebounding this summer. Which means that the 3 blocks is nice but the 3 rebounds is very disappointing.

Really hard to make a solid determination without seeing the games. I don't know how Wang is being played without seeing the games. 4 and 3 rebounds in the last two games, 5 and 1 fouls.
From the limited eye-witness reports I've read he has played pretty soft. We will see, but nellie said that dirk was the first person he ever saw who made himself into a rebounder. It will be interesting as wang goes through the season, I'm sure he reads the box scores as well.

Excellent point. It could be that Wang is changing the way other teams play. Maybe not. The boxscore jsut doesn't give the whole story though.
I'm sure he (Nellie) reads the box scores as well.
True, but I am pretty sure he is getting the tape to watch from every game.

Actually I was referring to Wang reading the box scores. He has stated that he needs to work on defense and rebounding and certainly those numbers show him that he still has work to do. It would be great to see an increase as the summer goes on. In fact if he gets to around 7 rebounds I will be pleased and astounded. That would be a big upgrade from him...
I really wish I could see some of the games to see if he is being played inside, but he surely should be in a position for defensive rebounds.

I hope his weight training pays off, but I just don't see him as a dominating presence inside.

I'm not sure what is meant by "dominating presence". Again I go back to vlade divac. I just don't see him as a dominating presence. If wang turned into divac we would be ecstatic. If he is less than divac, again he would be very servicable.

Ok... let's test that a little bit.
Vlade averages about 8 rbg, 1 bpg and 11 points. What does Wang have to do to come close?? You can add any statistics you like.

Wang gets pushed around. It's not as bad as Bradley, but he doesn't hold his ground. He is soft in the middle. He is a fine shooter, but that is not the point. I wish Wang was (1) Stronger and (2) more of a low post presence. Vlade beats around with Shaq and others and doesn't give as much ground. It's not really a stats issue.

Ok, so it is more of an intangible thing, for example Mark Bryant banged with Shaq, but he's not close to being a serviceable center. If Wang were as tough as Mark Bryant would we be satisified with that. I understand that we must be tougher but sometimes I have a hard time quantifying just what we expect.
Who are the top 10 folks that would be the dominating presence that we say we need?

I wish we could get Pollard myself.
And yes...it's more of an intangible thing. Well said.

I thought pollard looked kind of ridiculous against shaq. I thought raef played him better than pollard. But I understand your thinking, if wang went to the hoop and seemed as strong as pollard he would be certainly better.
I guess I am still of the opinion that thte mavs will actually be fine defensively as long as it is a long term committment for the team. I also still feel it was their perimeter and not their defense against webber/divac that killed them. I don't really think that Garnett/Nesterovic are slugs for minnesota, but they didn't have the ball movement nor the perimeter game that exposed dallas's perimeter defense like sacto did.
