Curry goes off for 72 points on this less than stellar Mavs defense. Mavs lose this one, unfortunately, and maybe by big numbers.

At least Luka is playing. Really wasn't expecting that. If we had won games against teams we should have he would prolly be off tonight.

Curry has been unstoppable and the Warriors top to bottom are playing extremely well. We'll be very lucky to win.

Welp. Shows what I know.

Burke needs consistent minutes. He is putting in work.

Early foul trouble for Powell which is good

No THJ in the starting lineup is good

Should lead to the better defense to start off this game

Some might disagree but I think having WCS in there early for defense was huge replacing Powell and not starting THJ also helped

just more energy and range defensively by WCS

Absolutely, you could almost say those fouls were a blessing in disguise except it was no disguise really

I doubt many will argue that. I think WCS has been on most posters preferred starting 5 all year. Idk if it's from him missing so much time or if RC is just stubborn and wants him with the 2nd unit. I mean in theory I can understand it to a degree there are zero defenders in that 2nd group. Having Powell with them makes me feel like we will always lose leads but you have to think of your starters first imo and Powell has always been a guy off the bench.

THJ belongs on the bench. Although Burke isn't exactly Curry out there at 0-7. Well maybe tonight he is.

I know the shots are considered bad in today's nba but I rly like Luka taking more of those mid rangers than all those step back 3's. At least until he can hit them more consistently.

Come playoff time, the midrange scoring becomes more important. I also like Luka taking more. He's pretty good there, and it makes him even more unpredictable and harder to guard.

Well fuck today's NBA, I hate most of the 3s Luka takes so I'm more than happy to see him mixing it up with mid rangers especially given his success rate

Dude was an insane +41 tonight

I really think they should consider starting him at least for the 1st 5-6 minutes just to get his defensive energy out there on the floor to start games.

The problem I keep seeing is the Mavs don't show up most games ready to defend and WCS seems to be really active on that end on the floor in spurts defensively.

Combine him with Kleber and DFS and that seems like half the solution to start out games.

The only reason why they are even in contention for a playoff spot is Steph Curry. That's why people are mentioning him as an MVP candidate because without Steph, that is a 10-15 win team in a regular 82 game season and I'm being nice.

Green shot 36% in the college season...thats why its stupid to call him a bust or cry nonstop for Saddid Bey.

He has all the tools to be a nice 3&D roleplayer. Dude is also just 20 years old. Just give him a full SL, a full camp and then also plenty of G league action next year and let him evolve

I'm still holding out hope he locks himself in a gym and shoots the 3 ball all off season. I'd like for him to play with the Mavs next season over the G league but I agree overall that he needs time to develop.

I'm most curious about what the heck could keep Terry away from the team since January. At this point I have to assume it's something significant.

Luka’s step back has become one of his best shots. From the article that Dallas41 posted, he was shooting it at 37%. Tony Allen said stopping it would be his first priority when guarding him.

No crying for Bey here. I still see why they took Green. He has an upside Bey simply doesn’t possess.

I’m impressed by Josh Green’s court vision. He had a nice 3pt assist in the Sac game. His finishing around the rim is terrible but he has shown a good feel for the pull-up jumper. He still looks like a plus defender and rebounder from his position going forward. As Bryan Wilson said: lock him in the gym for 500 3 point shots per day. His form looked nice on the one he hit— he followed through and got more arc on it. He was shooting line drives on those last few bad misses from 3.

Nice that the Luka and the starters got to rest the 4th quarter. Good to see Burke getting more burn though he wasn’t great in this one. Having another capable ball handler really helps the offense and Burke can catch fire and teams have to at least respect him from 3.

I disagree

He wasn't great offensively had a few shots that didn't fall

But defensively Burke was outstanding and that seems to have gotten lost in that win yesterday.

Trey Burke, lockdown defender
The insertion of Burke into the starting line up raised a few eyebrows at Mavs Moneyball HQ, but considering he looked like an NBA player against the Kings, it seemed worth a shot. When we consider how rough Tim Hardaway Jr. had been as a starter (12-of-43 from the field over three games), what could it hurt?

Burke answered the call by being as close to a Curry stopper as the Mavericks have had. He was aided by Mavericks basically playing a “Box-and-one”, allowing Burke to do his best in just trying to stick with Curry, who is probably the best relocation shooter in the history of the NBA. And he did a great job which caused the entire Warriors offense to sputter for nearly 10 minutes of a NBA game. He hounded Steph and the Warriors for four steals and a block and finished with one of the more fun and strange stat lines you’ll see in an NBA game.

You’re right, I meant offensively he couldn’t get anything to drop. But he did play well defensively.
