Texas vs Texas Tech
I'll be there next week at the game. Should be a College Gameday right here in Lubbock Texas in which my Red Raiders can very possibly be #1 if they win. I am so excited. We streamrolled Kansas @ Kansas today 63-21. This is the best Tech team ever and we're not only much better on Defense than the past, we're also better on offense than in the past if you can believe that, scoring no less than 35 points in any game so far this season. The Horns better be prepared.

This is the game UT should've been worried about the most out of the remaining games after OU. I smell an upset in West Texas. You usually smell some pretty nasty stuff out there (I know), but this one could be BIG.

actually the one I am worried about for texas is the one AFTER tech if they win. Could be one that they ignore and assume they are going to win. wanna say its kansas.
OK state played Texas pretty damn well today, I was really impressed with them.

I could honestly see Tech winning next week against Texas, then having a let down against OKST the week after. As much as I would love it to happen it's going to be near impossible to beat Texas, OKST then Oklahoma in 3 consecutive weeks, which would put Tech in the National Championship game. Well I guess if we're that good it'll happen, but it's doubtful but if so we'll have earned it.

I wouldn't be shocked if Tech beat UT. I think UT's the better team, but Tech's pretty dang good. But, I don't see them being able to win each of their next two games if they are to beat UT.

Tech has a decent shot. If UT has a couple turnovers and Tech doesn't, I think Tech wins. Without that, though, I think UT will ultimately outlast them.
Also, I don't buy the "improved defense and run game" stuff. Tech won't run much next week, and McCoy will pick that defense apart. IMO, if Tech wins, it will be because Harrell abused the Texas pass D, not because of an allegedly improved run game or defense.

Turnovers, obviously, will be a major deciding factor. It's just going to be who can get that well-timed turnover. One that can create momentum and make the opponent feel like they're climbing uphill. Both teams give up a ton of passing yards....the QBs will dissect you and just rip you apart. It may or may not be a surprise but Tech is tops in the conference in interceptions, 11, so that's something to look for with Colt's amazing accuracy. Does that make Tech a monster on defense, no...but it is still a surprising fact. It's their toughest test, so it needs to be seen if the stats hold up against the competition.
The O-line for Tech is going to protect the line and give Harrell time to find and follow his reads. If he's pressured and ruins the flow of the offense, that spells big trouble for Tech.
They are two gifted teams in terms of staying on the field...both well into the 50% range on converting 3rd downs...someone is going to need to find a way to force the punt team to come on.
The home field advantage will play a huge role in it. It wraps everything together. It can lead to sloppy play, for either team. Those fans are going to be jacked up and will be loud. Can it rattle the Horns and can Tech use it to their advantage? If Tech is able to harness it and come out confident, they'll have a really good chance to get the big win.

The key will be the UT Pass Defense...I believe they giving up some 265 yards a game. Can they keep Tech neutralized enough to give McCoy a shot.
Folks might be expecting a shootout...but in todays college game a 34 to 30 score is actually somewhat conservative.
Should be a good match up...and it UT survives this final phase of the first gauntlet, then they will be in a good position to run the table.
Of course, if Tech pulls off this game, then they have a gauntlet of their own to go through.
Does anyone know how the tie-breakers work if two or more of these teams finish up with 1 loss?
Who would go to the conference championship and would they still have a shot at the National Title?

This game is going to be great, but it is only #2 on my list of games I have the most interest in on Saturday. #1 belongs to Georgia-Florida.

nah, I've been a UGA fan since before Quincy. My dad worked there for a little stretch back in the day. But I'm also a huge Braves fan, and my love for them kinda trickled over to Georgia football soon after.

At the game using my internet on my cell, and I'm changing my prediction.
42-16 Tech.

Could you have been more wrong? Those of you that underrate Tech and think they're the same old good offense bad defense probably havent' seen even one of their games this season. I have season tickets, and I can tell you this team is for real.

Could the ABC crew be rooting for UT any more. Every time Tech does anything well they sound depressed, dejected and subdued.

I was wrong on the defense: they've been really good. The running game hasn't been much different than ever. Tech usually busts a few 10-15 yard runs against us. They just don't do it consistently.
More generally, UT couldn't have played any worse in that first half. Tech's got a nice advantage now, and a really good chance to win, but this one isn't over.

Tech does have an improved run game because they're using their pass game to their advantage, especially tonight. You have to gear up vs the pass attack and they create massive gaps based on their o-line spacing. With the right aggression and perception, you can get plenty of yards on the ground.

No idea what you're talking about. They've been incredibly excited for Tech.

I think Tech's D is good...but they're playing as well as they can. They've really studied the offense and know what to expect. The pressure has been incredible on Colt.
I think there is still one or two massive plays left that can totally change momentum or seal the fate for a UT loss tonight. I think there is still a lot left out there on the field.

We also didn't have Cosby out there for the first 3 drives, which hurts a lot. Our offense is predicated on the ability to convert 3rd downs with 6-8 yard passes, and without him out there, Tech could double up on Shipley and let all of our young receivers fail miserably.
We'll see what happens. I've been impressed by Tech's front 7. Their D-line is dominating UT's much bigger and stronger O-line.

Yeah, but the pressure also makes a difference as well. There have been too many drops for UT to get by right now. I remember Shipley looking down at his hands after one of them...they're just not all the way there right now.
Harrell has been good with creating extra time for passes as well, I'm liking that as well. The O-line is overpowering UT's front 4 when they're running the ball.
Should be an exciting 2nd half...
