GDT Game 11: Mavs (1-9) @ Tiderwolves (5-3) 7:00 pm CST FSSW
With all due respect, I took the liberty of starting my first GDT... If I was not supposed to, please, pay no attention to this post and delete it... thank you!
Tinderwolves are young... Mavs are young AND old.
Tindewrolves are talented... Mavs are talented AND untalented.
Tinderwolves are athletic... Mavs are athletic AND slow.
Tinderwolves have Butler, Wiggins, and Towns... Mavs have....
Mavs win by one...
Mavs - 105
Tinderwolves - 104

Wes is questionable now.
Brad Townsend
Carlisle says Matthews (foot) a game-time decision.
Matthews, coming off court after warmup: “It’s basketball. There’s bumps and bruises everywhere.” Planning to play? “Always,” he says.

The only GDT tradition we have around here is that if the Mavs win, whoever made the thread has to keep making them until we lose... Which doesn't look like it's going to be a "thing" this season.

Mavs really have only had one player score 20 this season and it’s only happened for him 4 times?

Dirk Is missing hard. Not that it matters in terms of the game.
Wolves have so many playmakers.
Mavs already down 14. Only barea is generating offense out here.

DSJ looking irritated at our shitty defense. Barnes is not a 4. Barnes is not a 4.

DSJ
Seth
DFS
Barnes
Barea/Harris (I want them because they’ve given so much but at the same time I want to see them on a contender)
This is really it as far as who I want here for the next season. Wish we could have Noel but that ship has sailed. Get what we can for any assets or take back to get rid of other contracts.

I'd like to see more DFS if possible. Is he injured or something? The Mavs need his athleticism and toughness in the worst way. If he can develop his range from deep, even better.

Frustrating that it takes till the 4th for DSJ to get to play somewhat free. Clearly more comfortable playing free than RC calling plays from the side where DSJ passes it off, sets a screen, then runs to the weak side.

Honestly don't care if DSJ has games with 8 TO's and 5-20 shooting. We should be letting him play not suffocating him with these silly sets that result in Wesley Matthews creating off the dribble. I'm fine with the occasional play being called to free up Barnes or Dirk but it's night and day every game when he gets to play free and when he doesn't.

Okay, I've been down on him for quite a while, but I seriously think that it's time for Rick to move on. It has nothing to do with today's game, but rather the state of the Mavs. They are probably the worst team in the league. Their best talent has a potential knee issue, and they are years away from thinking about being a .500 team. It's time to play young players and let them loose and develop them. Restricting minutes, stifling creativity while calling plays in order to hopefully eke out a win is counter-productive. Thanks for 2011 Coach. Don't let the door hit you in the arse on the way out. :-O

My thoughts exactly. Rick needs to go. It's that simple.

Thibs enjoys running his best players into the ground with heavy minutes. It's the first night of a back to back, gotta make sure the guys are tired.

I mean, what if he's only trying to win games because that's what Dirk wants?

I'd be stunned if we kept this pace as the worst team just because eventually the schedule will turn easier. Plus Atlanta, Sac, and Chicago all look just as bad if not worse. Atlanta would be 0-9 if RC plays Noel game 1. Barnes and the other vets will win a game here and there to keep us from top pick IMO. I'm nearly positive we will have a top 5 pick though.

When you are the last team in the league, the schedule doesn't get easier. Just....less hard.
