Dallas/Charlotte Trade Idea...
http://www.waitingfornextyear.com/?p=14430
Quote:
One rumor floating around had the Cavs sending guard/forward Wally Szczerbiak and forward/center J.J. Hickson to Charlotte for forward Gerald Wallace in a sign-and-trade.
The Cavs hold Hickson in high regard, but Wallace is a stud defender. He also has four years and almost $40 million left on his contract.

Surely a trade of: Jason Terry/Erick Dampier for Gerald Wallace/Boris Diaw, would be better than that. It would solidify our bench dramically, but we would only have Gortat at center "if orlando matches, than this trade never happens."
PG: Kidd, Barea, Beaubois
SG: Howard, Ross, Carroll
SF: Marion, Wallace
PF: Dirk, Diaw, Humphries, Nivins
C: Gortat, Hollins, Jawai
Thats a pretty scrappy 2nd team, and you would probably have Kidd, Wallace, Howard, Dirk and Marion at the end of the game.

No way Wallace backs up Marion - Crash would easily be the 2nd best player on this team after Dirk...
Getting Shawn Marion pretty much killed any chances of ever getting Gerald Wallace...

I just don't like the idea of Terry being our only bench, was trying to find a way to add depth to our bench. Hell make Marion come off the bench. LOL

Yea there is no way in way that would ever happen, sure if we didn't get marion or do it next year but no. It's been made super clear that Damp and Josh's contract will be made worthy next to pick up someone even better. Trading damp is not going to happen this year, and yea what underdog said. No way Wallace backs up Marion. And we have no idea how moving josh at the 2 is going to work out.
That would be a pretty damn awesome bench though , if we had them as our 2nd unit. Shoot start the parade right now.

IMO, 60 days till the backup PF is found. So they can move the Bucknor contract as well.
I don't expect any more trade moves than that till trade deadline or next year.

With Marion and Wallace being able to play multiple positions, it would work beautifully. Marion can easily slide to the 2 (and has many times) with Wallace at the 3 or 4. On defense, both players are very versatile. Marion can guard just about every position, and Wallace has the ability to guard the 2, 3, and 4. I don't see it as much an unconventional idea as a dynamic one. You would be a menace offensively and defensively. I've seen Stephen Jackson mentioned. He, too, is technically listed as a 3. Because he plays in a system that utilizes the assets of his skill set, we may see him as a 2. The same can be done with Wallace.
This move would allow the Mavs to pick up size without sacrificing anything in the way of production on either end. A huge plus, in my book.

If Charlotte would take Szcerbiak and Hickson for G. Wallace we could just do a Terry/Wallace swap, although we need a back up SG off the bench more than adding depth at SF

Josh + cash for Gerald.
Kidd/JJB/Boob
GWallace/Jet/Ross
Marion/Gwallace/Singleton
Dirk/Marion/GWallace(Nivins?!)
Gortat/Damp/Hollins
Looks good to me. Doesn't shoot all that great, but top tier defender and d-wade level at getting free throw attempts.

Not sure why we didn't go after G Wallace instead of Marion. (and I'm not one that hates having Marion, just saying)
In fact if you click on the article in the link in the first post, they call Wallace a younger Marion.
Edit: And BTW they updated the article, and it appears to be untrue anyway.
(Update 2:30 PM: Via Twitter, Windhorst states that there is “no truth” to Wallace rumors. Great.)

No, Hickson will have more value to Charlotte for 2 reasons, he is young and has high upside, he is also cheap. Sczerbiak is just thrown in there to match salaries and has a expiring contract.

are u kidding me another forward to this team is a disaster u can forget about 2, J. terry is the only guy (other than dirk and kidd ) that has been consistant, he can come off the bench and give our team a lift. not to mention what it would do to the cap space.
For any of u hoping for another trade, Sorry : there wont be none. unless they trade howard there isnt a man on the sqad cuban is going to touch. the wont trade damp no matter what happens, cuban is hoping to use his contact along with few others to bring in a big time free agent like d. wade at next years free agency.

neither of u makin any sense. dallas aint dealin with charlotte, their not givin up their prime players for our scrubs.
and d wade will never be in dallas, i repeat, NEVER. dirk and him have bad blood. bosh is the most likely FA to land in dallas next year cause hes from dallas.

close this thread, unless its for a trade for okafor...
Edit:
Of course a Dampier/Howard for Okafor/Wallace trade does work. Charlotte would only have Diaw and Diop on their salary next year, they could "actually" go after (2) max salary guys, I think if the numbers work correctly.

"Hey D, let's go play together for the Bobcats."
"But I dont wanna go to Charlotte. WAAAAAAAAAAAAA."
"Ok, stop your damn crying sissy boy."

You're so proud of this trade idea that you posted it in 3 different threads...
