Default A little travel help

I'm flying into Dallas on Thursday, and I had my wallet stolen yesterday. Now I have no picture ID. My passport unfortunately is in a safety deposit box in Dallas, and I am the only one who can get into it.

Here is what I do have:

Credit Card I used to purchase the ticket.

Social Security Card

Copies of bills, etc...

Paystubs

Birth Certificate (possibly, but not certain)

but no picture ID whatsoever. Can I get on a flight? I called AA and they were of no help. Essentially they said it was a decision made on an individual basis when checking in. Anyone have experience with this?

Where are you flying out of?

I ask because this happened to me in August. I lost my wallet on vacation in South Dakota. I was worried i wouldn't get to fly - so i went to the airport 2 days early and went to the check in counter for Northwest. The woman was really nice and said stuff like that happened a lot. They said I would have to go through a special screening process and potentially sign an affidavidt to board the flight. She was really helpful.

I eventually made it on the flight with NO Identification at all - I just was screened and re-screened thoroughly.

My advice would be - if possible - go to the airport and speak with somebody FACE to FACE. This isn't the first time this has happened - just keep asking for help until somebody cooperates.

I appreciate the info. I figured it has to happen all the time.

I have no problems with whatever screening they might require except probes. That make me nervous. I know that is Sike's cup of tea, but not mine.

Not too long ago someone told me they boarded a flight with their "Sam's Club" card.

I know thats true. A Northwest employee encouraged me to get one, but i didn't want to spend the $40+ just to get on the plane.

grbh - I just got funneled into the line where they took the guys with metal plates in their heads - nothing intrusive. So the process went smoothly at the Souix Falls SD airport. (not exactly Al-Qiadas next target)

my gf had the same dilemma when we fly to NC the other week. she left her drivers license at home. they just did a thorough screening, including making her take off her shoes and submit to a more physical pat down (Female guard) but otherwise she was let on without any problems.

i guess a 5'3" 100lb petite girl doesnt pose much of a security threat.
